Is there such thing as a rack to mount on top of the topbox of a R1150GS to tie extra luggage onto ? and if so where can I get my hands on one.

I saw one of these on one of the bikes I viewed, before buying mine.
So they can be had.
Given the weight (empty) of the TB, coupled with the flimsy constuction of the OE rack, it's probably not something to max-out, load wise.

5kg max load, I believe for the top-box. Don't think I would want any extra load that far back and that high.
I'm in the process of making one up myself to go on my system topbox! 
I've made a scale model out of dowling so far and my mate is going to weld it up when I've got all the metal together for it.
It's only going to carry a couple of sleeping bags and mats so nothing too heavy.
If anybody is interested in the finished product I'll post some piccies.

Yes piccies would be good
givi sell racks for their top boxs, all i did was measure the top of my box and a couple of givi boxs and bought the rack that would fit my box, drilled four holes and job done, all i carry on the rack are roll mats and water proofs.

I hate to be a killjoy but the rack shown there has short legs cos it's on a flat topped box. The standard topbox on the 1150 is anything but flat!
