Went for a bimble up to Galloway this weekend with Dakardude and Doc savage....Had a nice ride up through the lakes on Friday, then into Scotland. We found a nice spot on Loch Ken to wild camp...

We got the tents up, and went mooching in the forest for fire wood...amazingly whilst we were in the huge forest surrounded by billions of trees, we couldn't find any decent frickin wood to burn:blast...didn't take us long though...Then Doc almost set himself ablaze:eek:

Next morning after a nice plop in the woods and a coffee, doc set off to go home, so me and dakardude went exploring Galloway...:D

Cracking place Galloway Forest, there's a good few days worth of exploring to be had there:thumb After that we headed back to the lakes and the camp site at Braithwaite. Lanefoot Farm - if anyone wants a good camp site. Camp fires still allowed.

Totally recommend Galloway forest to anyone.

Cos he's a pretty boy:D As his tent blew away in the wind at Lanefoot, he muttered the words "Oh, there goes somebody's tent.........shit it's mine!!!"

Had some great rides through there when I was working at Turnberry on The Open a couple of years ago. The inland run from Dumfries to Girvan is beautiful and perfect GS country!

Great work on the vid Stevie!

What a rideout, I can honestly say that is probably the best one yet, weather was spot on, the bikes were running spot on, great laughs with some great mates, great food round the camp fire. It just couldn't get any better.

The Galloway Forest area is just GS heaven, there were spots in there where you could have been abroad, huge expanses and amazing views.

For me it was the first time I'd taken the GSA "off road" and what a surprise the 1200 is off-road, although we only had road tyres, they performed brilliantly.

Couple of arse-clenching moments - there was a section we went into that we shouldn't really have gone through ("no vehicles permitted"), and it got very Salter-Fell like, and the downward turns on the rockier bits threw the GSA sideways once or twice. But great fun.

Another moment I won't forget in a hurry, setting up a big branch up against a boulder by Loch Ken and having to jump against it with both feet to try to break it in half, only for it to go horribly wrong and almost catapult me into the Loch :blast. Feck me! Of course, Doc and Stevie were entirely supportive and sat by their tents pi**ing themselves laughing :D

We must get back there again. Tarry / Doc, you would absolutely love it up there on those forest trails.

Thanks to Doc for the camp food on Saturday night, owe you one pal:

Doc: "Jim, did you not bring any food?"
Me: "Well, er, I thought we were gonna stop for steak and chips in a pub to be honest" :D

(they were the "Look What We Found" boil in the bags and they are really nice btw):

..and to Stevie for sorting the beans and sausages Sunday (we never did cook those sweet n sour kebabs!).

Enough blab, a few pics I got below, excuse the quality on them, I'm on the older gen. iPhone and its not as sharp as the newer ones:

Hiya mate. One of the best spots I've been to in this country I reckon. Very dry up there at the moment, so the bikes were covered in dust (its like cement dust). Highly recommend heading up there.

Even the Courvoisier "Golem" stayed home this time and we got to bed at sensible times :-)
