The deal I was offered on a new GSA was absolutely mind-blowing............. however the catch was that I had to take the Yellow bike.......... unfortunately not my favourite colour?

tried to get used to it.... but a yellow GSA with rider wearing bright yellow reflective vest.... and one could easily be mistaken for being in the AA-recovery's employment!

So my panels have finally arrived yesterday morning :thumleft:

Humvee Graphics posted a new "slightly"different logo set :) Thanks Steve for a fantastic product that looks the business and is really easy to apply - following instructions!

nice.............. so now to strip the bike and do the panel replacement :thumb

Looking at buying a tripple black at the moment, i lilke the frame and engine in black but would rather an alternative colour like yellow on the tank / Beak, so i am lookiNGto do exacly the same thing in reverse , and also from vines !

Is it much work to change the bits over ?

Surely having the panels blown over would have been substantially cheaper than replacing them ....or are you related to that couple in Cambridge & had a hand out??

Hi I have the same problem with my bike it is also yellow not my preferred color however I am trying to live with it, can I ask the cost of the colour conversion please because it could be of interest to me. I also got a great deal on my bike however no choice of colour

I was extremely fortunate and brought the Front Beak/Mudguard unit from SA with me - found that on a heap of parts BMW were throwing away. It has a 1/2"scratch on it after a fall :blast:blast - so the part did not cost me anything!

The Tank panel was bought from Vines and Simon organised it for £152.00 including VAT

I looked at having it wrapped in vinyl, but alas it would have cost around £300.00 for that excercise............... so I cleaned the beak (it was from a 2009 Adventure so was silver/grey) and sanded to prep it - took it to Bateman's coachworks and he painted it - matching the colour of the bought panel.

He indicated that to paint both panels (if you supply them removed from the bike) would cost around £150.00

I wanted to keep my Yellow panel for resale with the bike one day......

so if you chaps take the panels off yourself - well I'm sure he'll do a good deal.

BY THE WAY.... the tank panel did not come with the stickers and I nearly had a heart-attack when Simon told me they cost £33.00 PER SIDE.......:blast

So Steve at Humvee Graphics sent me the set as shown in the pics for £16.00 including VAT and postage (non reflective silver) :thumb

Lastly - the job to change the panels took no more than 30mins..........!

Thanks for that advice It's food for thought, I love the GSA & have had silver in the past so fancied a change however not sure I can get use to the yellow, but like you got a good deal on the bike, could be a winter prodject.

I have to say i love the yellow..my old R1100s was in mandarin.
My current GS is in Titan Silver...and i have really gone off it

I'm also considering a respray over the winter, my current thought is on a cobalt blue metallic.

All i need now is a paint shop in the Kent area....any recommendations??

I hope you are going to post a picture with the grey panels on the Bike.:thumb

Although, were I live. I would ride a pink bike, if it would mean that people would act like they have seen me.

Op I don't get why you had to have yellow when you're buying new, was it a stock bike they were desperate to shift?
I assume the saving on the deal massively outweighed the cost and hassle of swapping the panels?

there was some panic-buying involved as well! I had to get my money out of South Africa as I'd sold my 2009 GSA before coming over here. The Rand/Pound value was falling and I needed to buy the vehicle to be able to get the tax clearance on the funds.

Paid a deposit at a different BMW dealership for a pre-reg bike with 3 miles on.... however it took 3 weeks to arrive at the dealership and when it did - I was informed that it arrived with 1600 miles on the clock........... and that I'd have to take it as it was with no further discount. I cancelled the sale.

Graham at Vines contacted me in Cape Town and advised that they had 2 new pre-reg bikes available - one Grey & one Yellow. I could have either at 12,800 quid............ I selected the Grey and gave them my card details for the deposit to secure. 15mins later Graham called me and advised that Guildford had seconds before, taken a deposit on the Grey bike......... and basically I't would be up to me whether I'd want the Yellow full house with set of Panniers thrown in...?
With a buyer in SA for the new set of Panniers at around 500 quid - I ended up with a new Yellow GSA for 12,300 pounds - imo - worth the ciost and small extra hassleof the colour change?

I managed to get my funds out... and best of all - I sold my 2009 GSA with 11,000km on in SA for 2,000 pounds more than what I paid for the new GSA... :thumb

I had to buy a yellow one as well. The color didnt suit my eyes nor nose color, so to painter it went.
