I bought one of these for my GS prior to french alps trip in August , did 2500 miles over the 10days and had very little use since then, I noticed last week there was a small tear in the vinyl at side of seat, I now notice it is tearing at back corner also nearest the pillion.
Ive written and sent photos tonight , my original complaint a few days ago was replied to asking for better photo's so they could determine if it was "inflicted damage ".
My gut tells me I'm going to have issues getting a replacement.

Anyone else had any similar problems with these seats.??

Thanks

I have, but have to confess on not taking it up with the manufacturer- the reason being that though I didn't see that I'd caused the tear I felt it would be nigh on impossible to prove that it was not caused by some act of vandalism or misuse.

In my case I used a tear mender product to patch the tear which isn't at all perfect but has done the job.

My research here didn't show reported issues but you may have better luck in fishing with this thread.

Otherwise the red piping has faded and degraded very badly. The seat itself is very comfortable but there is no way I would buy another.

Good luck, let us know how you get on.. :thumb

They say 'timing is everything'. I bought a Sargent seat for my GS yesterday morning ... and then you guys post this!! Good thing I opted for the black piping. Let me know how this fleshes out ...

I couldn't bear the thought of Scotland-England-Spain-France next summer on the OEM seat! It was mega-sore-arse through the Swiss and Italian alps last summer, the through Sweden the year before. No more.

Comfortable seat. Spent 3 months touring Morocco, Tunisia and Europe – much better than the original on the 1200gs. BUT, mine sprang a leak. If it rains heavily the seat soaks it up then dribbles it down the inside of my leg – not a good look! :augie

Leaks around the red piping. I asked the importer if there’s any kind of repair service. They promised to get back to me after a chat with the manufacturer but they never did. At some point I’ll try to find someone local to repair it. Shame – it’s a good seat otherwise.

Had the same problem a number of years ago informed Nippy Normal who sold it to me,they din't want to know, they passed it on to Calamander the importers and they din't want to know, same old story you paid for it so now you can fuck off!:( any way contacted Sargent direct in USA and the sent a complete cover out FOC only down side is UK customs would not believe it was free and charged me £30 import and vat but still it was a cheap fix took about an hour and was is spot on:beerjug:

hope this helps

THANKS

Thanks for all your help and comments , Ive got the leak as well and its going in 2 places now, Calamander say they have passed my photos to Sargent USA for a decision so just have to wait (thats a fortnight now)

FINALLY I HOPE

After all this time and loads of chasing Ive just been told I can have a new cover to be fitted at my expense,
Given the ammount of time its taken to get to this point i'll believe it when I see it.
Wouldnt deal with Calamander again , Nippy Normans IMHO are much better at customer service.
