I have, coz I think that should be the dogs dangly bits and I have no more sense! But its a hell of a gamble to reserve something that no one has even seen yet isnt it?? Let alone how much it costs!

No more so than all those people who reserved the 1200 months before they knew what it even looked like.

No problem reserving because if you dont like it you get your money back here in Ireland. Especially since nobody has pics at the moment.

Why do it Alan...........you'll have to go through the saga of seats/lights/exhausts/screens/TT goodies et al.............. all over again and nothing will be available for the first 6 months of production.

Can your bum stand it??

Good point, especially about the seat!!!!!!

I was in my local dealers on Tuesday and the sales manager totally denied having any pics of the 1200ADV. He knew it was coming and had heard of the spec but that was all.

Anyone seen the pics of the R1200GS Dakar that SPC are doing?

I've got the newsletter, but no way to scan the pic in (flat is packed for me moving out tommorrow).

Very basically it's a 1200 in the old 650 Dakar R/W/B colour scheme, but with HPE twin pipes.

If the 1200 Adv comes in that colour scheme it'll look the doggies............. :grin

Any chance of anyone posting a foto of the SPC bike?

I agree - silver/black combo. is v.sweet
Maybe I need to get saving.

I don't know about other dealers, but SLM have four people who've placed deposits on the 1200GSA, myself being one of them. Seeing as the bike's based on the 1200GS I imagine many accessories will be available from day one. The assorted grist from the rumour mill is as follows:

- first showing in September at Geneva with UK delivery starting April 2005

- similar big chunky presence as the 1150GSA

- based on 100 BHP 1200GS, not the HP2

- frame/wheels as present 1200 but with uprated suspension

- 20mm higher

- two-part seating, rear can be be removed to allow extra storage below

- 33-litre composite tank for 10-15% greater range than 1150GSA

- pannier system from Touratech. Brackets initially fitted as standard and are designed to assist with tip-over protection.

- much improved engine protection

- same gearing as existing 12GS (pity no low 1st gear).

- bigger screen

Jon, the bike that SPC have is a tricked out demo road bike featuring all of Wunderlich's parts for the R1200GS. Its called the jacaraca or something like that, and is very street focussed, its nothing like a Dakar although I can see how it might be confused with the Dakar scheme at first glance. Its also about 15 grand !!!!

Pukmeister,

Look at the links Zmeagol (9th one down) and outback posted - that's the pics I've seen. Does remind me of my 650 Dakar, but I just love that paint scheme.

I think the SPC Dakar is produced by Kuhn of Germany, if you look carefully at the websit picture you can just make out the Kuhn lettering. They where displaying it at the Biker Meet at Garmisch, and it looked fantastic, I talked to the guy and they offer all the parts for sale although they are very expensive. I did pick up a price list but can't find the bloody thing anywhere, I've done a search on the internet but can't find Kuhn, but if someone looks hard enough, I bet they'll find them, better to deal direct with them, than have SPC rip you off.

On smeagols links I defintely prefer the orange 1200. Yet again the Dakar look alike but there is also the HP2. aaaaaaaaaaaaarghhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The choice is too much for my tiny mind :rolllaugh :rolllaugh :rolllaugh

Nobody seems to have picked it up, but when I wrote, "first showing in September at Geneva with UK delivery starting April 2005", I meant April 2006.

It would be nice--but I'm not holding my breath--if the 1200GSA would be a bit more Adventure-ready than the 1150GSA. I find it amazing how much has to be done to the bikes in terms of basic mods--even things like sensible-sized side stand foot, raised handlebars and so forth. And if a bike is really RTW-ready why does it have a cat in the exhaust?

I had noticed your error Zmeagol, but couldn't be arsed to get all Pedantic about it and try to correct you. I got better things to do like strip and inspect a Daytona engine with big end failure.

Besides, you'd probably have got the hump if I had, most people hate a smart alec. Everyone knows what you meant anyway.

I've got mixed feelings about a 1200 Adventure, sure enough it will be nice to see it on sale, and I'll probably want one, but is it worth changing my standard R12GS for one at great expense? Probably not. I can't use my present bike to its full ability.
