Sunrise at Geiranger, Norway.

Liv - that looks pretty special - is that your little white house on the water's edge?

Sunrise over Bracknell isn't happenning this morning.

I hope you klicked on Geiranger, so you saw the fjord - not the city Ålesund?

:) No; not my house!
I live just outside Oslo; no fjord here!
It's not far to the Oslo fjord (Oslofjorden), but I can't see it from here.

-Did you see the hairpin road at the right side, deep in the picture? Up there you'll find Ørnesvingen = The Eagels Turn.
That is the only road they can use in the winter. The road that passes where the camera is closes in the winter.
But they got boats! :)

-Have you heard of Dalsnibba?
It's 1476 meters above sea level, and funny hairpins to ride up, and down again - it's a dead-end-road. With a great wiev; you see what this camera can see!
:)

Liv, I agree it's a stunning view. I was in Norway on the bike this summer and took a photo of the same view. It was very hot in Geiranger that day. I recommend Norway to everone. It's a beautiful country. I was unlucky with the weather though. I was touring for 27 days in Norway, Finland & Sweden and had rain on 23 of those days so be warned. And people say that it's wet here in Scotland!

I was in Norway Early June and the road into Geiranger from that direction was still blocked with snow!! I only had a bit of rain in Seven Days Mind! Truly beatiful country mind I'll be back!! :thumb

I did the Trollstigen as well. I didn't enjoy it much as I'm not good with heights but incredible road though.

So you have alreday been here? But you can come back!

In June some roads may be closed, and there are often more rain in May and in June then in July - July or August is better for the tourists on two wheels. And it is often not that cold in July.

Everytime some ask me for advice for a holiday in Norway, I say;
Do not try to see Norway from Kristiansand to Nordkapp (Noth Cape) in one week!
It is better to stay in the south part, or go up to the midle part of Norway, and spend some time on funny roads in the moiuntains and ride along the fjords.
Keep in mind you can not ride fast on those funny roads and look at the wiev at the same time!
Stay at the same place for two nights may be a good idèa; there are often so many roads in one small area, so you can't see it all in one day.
Relax, have fun, and do not try to see 100% of Norway in one week!

...and tell me you the next time you (all of you!) are going over here; I'll try to meet you where you are if you are not too far from Oslo.

:) Liv.
