Hi all!

I hope to meet you over here, so I have collected some links for you, to make it easier for you to figure out where in Norway you want to go!

So here are some:
http://www.visitoslo.com/indexe/

http://www.norwaypost.no/newdev/cache/cacheView.asp?sUrl=/default.asp

http://www.andalsnes.net/default-e.htm

http://www.alr.no/Default.asp?language=Norsk

http://www.thebasepoint.com/ BASE jump. Klick ''KJERAG'' to see pictures from Kjærag, = in Lysefjorden, Stavanger.

http://www.bergen-travel.com/

http://www.buskerud.com/ _ links for Buskerud; Geilo, Hønefoss, Kongsberg = south. Many links.

http://www.carwalks.com/default.asp If you want to walk... Area Bergen, south west.

http://www.valdres.com/english/ Valdres = Fagernes and Bygdin, in the midle of the south of Norway. If you go west from Fagernes and pass Vangsmjøsa, you came to the end of Sognefjorden, Øvre Årdal & Årdalstangen.
I f you go north from Fagernes, over the mountanplateau Valdresflya, you may go west to Lom and Geiranger, or north to Dombås and Romsdalen to Åndalsnes.
From Lom you can ride Bøverdalen to Turtagrø (not to Gaupne) and turn left over the mountain to Øvre Årdal.
From Fagernes you can go south to Gol and Geilo, and cross the plateau Hardangervidda to the west, to Ulvik, Voss or Odda.
When you go from Geilo to Ulvik you go from east to west, and don't be suprised if the weather changes a lot in one hour! Often there are sun in the east and rain in the west at the same time.

http://www.europe-holiday.com/~nordland&lk=3 Lofoten.

http://www.fjordnorway.no/index_no.html The fjords in the west. (Not Lofoten; that is furter north.)

http://www.flaamsbana.no/eng/Index.html If you want to give your GS a rest, and want to sit and look at the nature in an old train; Flåmsbanen!
Flåm is at the end of Sognefjorden; Aurlandsfjorden. From Flå / Aurland you can go ( riding you bike) to Vik (Vik i Sogn) or to Voss. The road over the mountain Vikafjell and down to Vik is beatiful! Not ''hairy'' hairpins (there may be a few I can't remember) but the wiev is good! Not the largest, but good!
From Aurland / Flåm you can ride the longest thunnel we got here in Norway; 24 km, to Lærdalsøyri.
A few kilometres west of Aurland / Flåm; don't miss Gudvangen and Stalheim!
At Gudvangen (Nærøyfjorden) there are wikings, living outside!
And if you love hairpins, you HAVE TO try Stalheimskleivene! There are a thunnel for sissies, but please go up to Stalheim Hotel by Stalheimskleivene! It is not a dead end.
Do not ride E16, do not use the thunnel; ride those funny hairpins!
Fun in fog too! Much better then Trollstigen! It is more like the road up from Lysebotten (Lysefjorden, Stavanger) -that is fun too!

http://www.sunnfjord.no/enghoved.html Førde, Jølster = at the north side of the Sognefjorden, not far from Aurland, Vik and Øvre Årdal, same area - great area for tourists on two wheels!
There are some ferries in this area, the end of Sognefjorden, but I can't remeber I had to wait more then two hours for a ferry, ever! I guess you don't have to wait more then 45 minutes.

Ferries in Norway costs, as much here on the globe does. But almost everywhere you go you do not pay for bikes at toll roads.
And the speed cameras can't see who you are when you ride your bike, so don't worry. But there may be a police man in the bushes - everywhere!

And more are coming soon!

:) Liv.

Hi Liv. Great set of links... I guess we should look at putting some (or all) of these on the new Links page... what do you think?

That'll give Paul a bit of work to do :D

..and here are more links!

Knock yourselfes out!
:D

http://www.gala.no/EN/Default.aspx?tabid=714 Gålå (Golå) is a hotel in Gudbrandsdalen, between Oslo and Dombås, close to Vinstra, a couple hours riding north from Oslo. There are a webcam.

http://www.visithalden.com/indexeng.html Fredriksten Camping is at Fredriksten Fortress; cabins (hytter) with hard beds (I have been there twice!) and that is about all you find inside the cabins. There are showers and what you normal find at a camp site, bring food for breakfast.
But it is situated in a quiet area at the fortress, and there are only a few minutes to walk down a steep foot-path to get to pubs, restaurants and the quay (not big boats). The foot-path gets dark at night, so do not drink too many beers!
Halden is close to Svinesund and the border to Sweden, south of Norway.

http://www.hardangerfjord.com/ Hardanger!
In the south west of Norway; if you start in Bergen - follow the Hardangerfjord to the bottom. Names in Hardanger; Ulvik, Eidfjord, Kinsarvik, Odda, Norheimsund, Jondal, Lofthus. Hardanger is between Voss and Geilo, close to Hardangervidda.
Many of the farmers grow fruit trees, cherry and apple, and this is a beatiful area. Not so many hairpins, it's safe (as I remember) for those who do not like steep and highs - the roads are often close to the fjord.

http://www.hurtigruten.com/index.asp Hurtigruta / Hurtigruten; you can bring your bike on the boat and go from Bergen to Kirkenes, or from where you want to the next stop - or stay at the boat (as it sails) for a night or more.
It is wery popular, so you better make reservations many months before you go!
Figure out what part of the Norwegian coast or fjords you want to see from the boat! Lofoten is popular, but look at a good map and find your favorite part.
The boats are big, so don't worry about the weather - those boats are made for the job! :-)

http://www.kongsberg-turistservice.no/index_english.htm Kongsberg; a small town, between Rjukan and Oslo.
I have been inside the old Silver Mines in Saggrenda, Kongsberg; fun!
You take place in a small train, and then you go deep down (actually it is up) inside the mine; the train makes a lot of noise, and it is totally dark inside the thunnel! Spooky!
But finally the train stop, and you are in a big room, with electrisity, and from there you start walking with a guide (they speak english).
Keep your motorbike gear on; it is not hot inside the mine, but leave your helmet outside. The guide gives you a helmet, and you need it because you may bump your head up on the roof. No, it is not only for small people; you walk normal!
There are stairs inside, and there are dolls who seems to be workers, old workers from many years ago.
Call and make an appoinment to make sure you do not have to wait outside for the next train!
I loved it! :-)

http://www.lillehammerturist.no/english/ Lillehammer; Olympic Winter Games 1994. Three hours from Oslo (about), by the lake Mjøsa.
-Do you want to go to hell? Hell = Helvete, and Helvete is situated at road number 255, in Vestre Gausdal, noth east of Lillehammer.
Helvete is a big circular hole, (we call it Jettegryte) made in stone, by the river Jøra, and you can climb down and pay Helvete / Hell a visit. The last part is slippery, so you better be careful.
Yes; I have been to Hell! :-)
When I was there, an old local farmer saw us go down, so when I went up again he sold me a document, signed by him, so I can prove I was in Hell.

http://www.norphoto.com/r/nor3499.php Pictures from Norway - beatiful pictures!

http://www.norphoto.com/r/nor3473.php From the link above; pictures from Langedrag. Langedrag is a special zoo; they try to get animals that lived in Norway many years ago, and they got Norwegian wild animals like wolfes, elk (moose) and what we call Gaupe. Gaupe looks like a cat, a big cat but not like a tiger. And many more animals!
Langedrag is situated in the area between Gol, Ål, Geilo, Rødberg and Nesbyen, close to the lake Tunhovdfjorden (it's lake), in the midle of the south part of Norway.
The zoo, or farm, is idyllic, high up with a great wiev, and the houses ( a cafè and a small hotel) are made of timber - like a place from a fairytale! Grass on the roof!
Those two puppies, wolfes, bite me! I loved it!
There are rabbits and goats all over the place! And there was a grumpy pig when I was there. :-)
The roads up to the zoo / farm is perfect for GS'ers!
''Everybody'' want to stay there at the small hotel, so you better make reservations now! Or stay at a campsite in the area. Langedrag.

http://www.museums.dk/norge.html Links to museums in Norway.
It's in Norwegian, but you may know what it is by the name at of link.

http://www.norwaves.com/norwaves/english.htm This is a link to links in Norway, and links to many things in Norway, and links again, and .... Yeah, you can surf for a while in here!

http://www.visitoslo.com/indexe/ I think you'll find about all you need to know if you want to go to Oslo - even a link to places for gay people! You don't have to be lonely in Oslo! :-)
Serious; it is a useful link.

And I have more - coming soon!
:) Liv.

Nice one Liv
Now then.....get the map out and start getting the latitude and longitude for all the campsites in Norway!
That should keep you busy these cold and dark months!! :thumb

Hi all!

Her is a link to a Norwegian MC-forum, in Norwegian...
But the reason I posted this here is there are five pictures of my favorite cafè Tyrigrava Kro!
http://www.mc-forumet.no/viewtopic.php?t=88

As said before; it's just outside Oslo, close to the campsite Fjordcamp and the amusementpark Tusenfryd, by the little lake Gjersjøen.

All those pictures is from a typical Wednesday evening in the summer!
And I'm there! (Not on the pictures, I'm there 99% of the wednesdays in a year!)
I'm often there at Sundays too; having my Sunday dinner.

I hope to meet you there next time you are in the area!
If you want to e-mail me you can click at the last word ''her'' at this site:
www.clubscarver.com - and there is a picture of me!

:) Liv.

Only the motorbike section! :)
I do not like to help those home-on-wheel-people... Get them out of our way!

-Do you lik to ride in the snow, and spend the night in your tent?

Yes, it's old news, I know.
But I was thinking this might be fun for all the new members?

This is Primustreffet, in February, at Bjoneroa in Norway:
http://home.no.net/bmj63/primus_2001/
It's a meeting at the same place at the same wekend each year - no campsite, just a place in the woods and you need to bring everything you need.

I have been there by car twice, just for the day, and I must say those who spend the weekend there are my heroes! :)

Now I know there are snow some places in the UK, so why don't you spend one night outside in your tent, in the snow?

:) Liv.
