Dear All

Has anyone out there tried the "Epedition Pannierz" made by Andystrapz on their GS?

If they have, were they any good? Did they interfere with the exhaust?

Be gentle, new fellow, first post.

G'day Noggin.
I have a set of Andy Strapz' canvas Expedition panniers I occasionally throw over the (1150) GS, which is fitted with Touratech frames to take Zega panniers. The R.H. frame holds the Expedition pannier clear of the paralever, but the L.H. pannier will rest on the muffler.
I knocked up a rolled, perforated stainless steel guard with four "feet", each bent in two right-angles to hold the guard about 10mm away from the muffler. The "feet" are bent back under the guard, and I've got it clamped by a couple of stainless worm-drive hose clamps which you can hardly see, as they're under the guard.
The guard does not stick out that far that it prevents the aluminium panniers being fitted, but there's still plenty of gap to keep the Expedition pannier away from the heat.
If you don't have TT frames it'd be a simple job to knock up a couple of rails to hold the canvas panniers clear of the paralever / muffler. P'raps you could run 'em back from the rear footpeg hangers.
With the two Velcro strapz which join the two panniers together you can hang the panniers horizontal, or sloping in either direction if that's your thing.
I use a couple of large tough plastic bags as linerz ; they slip in and out of the canvas a treat.
I find myself using the Andy Strapz panniers far more often than the Zegas, primarily because their volume is adjustable. Mine both leaked, but some seam-sealer remedied that ; they're now completely waterproof. I reckon they're an excellent product (no affiliation, etc).
