Following on from another thread.

Got windows xp pro running on my pc with norton antivirus & firewall.

Have put in this website as a recognised address on firewall and enabled all things

Have enabled scripting etc in the internet options.

still no tabs at the top of the screen, or sponsor logos on the side under peoples names.

my mate thinks it might be that i have to download javascript as windows doesn't install it with xp (cos it ain't their product and java said "Oi!" when they found they were going to)

any more suggestions?

ta!

i think MS stopped including JVM (java virtual machine) in windows for reasons similar to above.

just had a hunt, see here.

dunno if that's your problem, but i remember d/loading it for one of my xp pc's once.

pretty sure i've not installed it on my other machine & that works ok, but it does have a very early version of xp on it.

Think you'll find Steve's right - I had the same problem and it was because I had blocked pop-ups from the GSer site. Once I told Norton Internet Security to allow them, everything appeared again.

Cookie,
Your link doesn't work :(

Steve/Ian,
Tried putting UKGSER in as a trusted site, but still the same.

Even tried turning the firewall off and still no tabs or sponsor logos.........

:(

Me too. I had the this problem and sorted it a while ago by allowing Java etc. This time it's back and despite trying the same routine, can't get the logos back. Are you NTL by the way ?

No,

But this morning me tabs & sponsor logos have just appeared.

Must be something to do with Norton Firewall and maybe having to reboot the machine for all changes to take effect?

I turned ad blocking off as well as adding the website to "trusted" etc.

Gonna turn addblokcing back on and see what happens!

Cheers Cookie :thumb

However, all tabs etc still there with ad blocker on, so definitely norton firewall was the issue, thouhg God knows what I did - apart from swear and click a lot :D

norton updated itself yesterday and THEY'VE GONE AGAIN :anger: :redbone

Norton does some very bizarre things because it works at a very deep level in Windoze.... a while ago i had a problem caused by it affecting my TV card sound.....utterly bizarre and the absolute last place i would have looked until someone here tipped me off about it....until then i was loking at conflicting drivers, ports, sound settings etc etc.......

There are hundreds of forums devoted to sorting out bugs from Norton and all the rest of the PC workings..try a search on Google and settle back with a beer or two and you'll probably find the solution .....:D

Me tabs are back!

Me tabs are back!

I've dun nuffin neiver

an' you can't prove it eiver, copper!

opps, sorry, force of habit :D

I give up. Don't know how or why

Just hope they're there again tonite when I log on

I had the same thing some time ago.

If you disable Norton Ad blocking, go to your internet settings, delete your temporary files, log back into this site, wait for it to load, hey presto all back up and running again.

You can then turn on your Ad blocking again.

The only problem is you will have to do this every time you delete your temp internet pages .

It does work though.

I had the same problem and as mentioned before, i found it to be add blocking and both norton and adaware both caused issues, i re set settings on boyth and ive not had a problem since.

guess what.............................

they've gone again

i think it's a conspiracy.............."tabs of mass distraction"
