Touratech head guards

Well I eventually got round to testing mine today. These that is:

Used in conjunction with the BMW crash bars.

Two drops (onto rock), one fall and one dry stone wall demolition.
I can happily report that they did exactly as they said 'on the tin'.
Both sides have deformed (the aluminium surrounds and the steel brackets) taking up most of the shock. My head covers aren't even marked.

I might have a bit of trouble straightening them again though

But to my mind they've already paid for themselves.

Recommended for off road low speed drops.

Hi Sid,

now that looks like fun and I wouldn't need to worry about reaching the floor when stopping.

The only problem I could fore see is being unable to find someone mental enough to act as passenger.

Now has anybody done a sidecar conversion to an R1200GS?

I used to have one on my R80G/S! Great fun, but as Reggie says difficult to find 'co-pilots'

They don't cover the top of the cylinderhead, are they really that much better than the crappy plastic ones? Like the look of them though!

Andrew,
they seem to protect the necessary area pretty well, ie the lower half and front of the cylinders.
My Adv fell well past horizontal - the cover took a direct hit. I don't think the plastic protectors would have faired so well.

Later on my BM bars and the TT covers demolished a wall:

It's basically a trials chair widened about 6" (in an attempt to get some stability

I don't think the plastic protectors would have faired so well.

After my small off in the car park on Friday I can vouch for the plastic ones being of no actaul use at all, very slow speed drop and plastic just expploded, may have taken so of the impact, possibly but nice set of the TT ones on their way after seeing your photos

If you want them to blend in a little more, get them annodised before you fit them.

What are they made of .
Are they machined or Fabricated.
How much.
Any chance of Clear pictures of preferrabley non damaged ones.
Whats trhis about , a frame .
Could whom ever would oblige take a picture fron and back.

If your questions are about the headguards in the above photo, they are Touratech ones, full description and price in their catalogue. I just had them annodised before I fitted them.
