I finally got hold of a genuine Garmin Quest Motorcycle mount.

There is a neat lock mechanism - 2 small pins move forward and lock into 2 holes on the back of the QUest to stop it jumping out of the mount.

The cradle mount itself fits onto a bracket mount via 3 screws.

The bracket mount can connect to a 3rd party mount via 4 screws.

Dimensions for the 4 screws are in the picture.

Now I need a RAM mount. Any ideas on which type ?

I will post the full installation guide seperately.

The instalation guide Nick posted says 3.5mm mono audio jack :)

Wonder if that is correct ?

The SP2610 and GPSmap 276C motorcycle cables have a 2.5 mm audio socket.

Is there a standard RAM ball mount that fits onto the Garmin bracket mount? I see that it's not the usual diamond base.

Im also think abot this mount or the Touratech. Is this only for road use or does it work in high speed on gravel road or is the Touratech the way to go then. You dont want to lose youre Quest in high speed.

Hi Guys,

.. been poorly last few days and now sound like VoiceOver-man.

I've still have not seen the Garmin mount this but from the posting, here are my thoughts.

The key parts are the 'Cradle mount' and 'Bracket mount'.

The fixing holes on the 'bracket mount' are of a typical hole pattern and if its used then you will need to attach onto a round base RAM-B-202, then a arm RAM-B-201 (thee choices, here) and a RAM-B-231Z U-bolt.

It seems that the bracket mount is a spacer that also protects the power lead connector when attached.

It may be possible just to use two holes (as those with SPIII or 2610 know) then attach on to the RAM diamond base used in the RAM-B-149, RAM-B-149Z, RAM-B-149ZA onto the handlebar or on the cross bar then add a RAP-319 as mentioned in an earlier thread. For those into plastic, the handlebar mount is a RAP-B-149.

The RAM B 202 fits perfectly to the back of the Garmin Quest mount. 4 holes line up, so all bolts can be used.

RAM-MAN - Many thanks for your help and prompt service.

Nick,

Thanks for those words...

I have heard that the RAM diamond base RAM-B-238 which is included in the U-Bolt that was mentioned in the previous reply is valid - in so much - that it uses on two of the four holes. I am assured this works perfectly well as whatton is about to find out.

hi nick

any chance of seeing pictures on the bike when you have the bracket fitted mines going in a week on Saturday and it would be good to see what it looks like fitted to the bike

cheers:D

Nick,

So far, can you tell us how the Garmin motorcycle mount is performing, ie audio and power?

Hi Guys,

Please send me some pics ...

As far as I know the voltage regulator is housed inside the Garmin cradle. I have been told that the Garmin does not have an audio amp, and yes its a 3.5mm jack plug.
