🇨🇭 I'm in the process of importing my 2001 R1150GS into Switzerland. The final step is the technical inspection known as the Contrôle technique or Expertese.
The bike is well maintained, but I'm not clear what they will be inspecting and therefore what I might fail on. Couple of obvious things might be headlight alignment, or the fact that the speedo is in mph ( though it also displays kph)
So two questions.
1. Does anyone have experience of this and can advise on what I need to be aware of?
2. Is there a mechanic (In Western Switzerland) who can do a pre-inspection check for me?

Hello Mark, whereabouts in Switzerland? If yours hasn't got a cat on then you'd best put one on. Other than that, I imagine you'd be ok with the EU CoC.

Other end of the Lake from you! Just above Montreux.
Haha, very good! It's a nice place to be- was only in Montreux two weeks ago. If you're ever down towards Geneva or go in to the Alps towards Chamonix, way, let me know if you fancy meeting somewhere!

As far as a mechanic is concerned, it appears that specialists aren't really a thing here. Even changing a tyre, motorbike shops tend to stay to their own brand- I had to take the wheel off mine just to have a local Aprilia dealer change my tyre.. So, I do all of my own servicing etc. All good fun!
