The Arlberg Base Tunnel is closed for maintainance until October this year so all heavy goods vehicle traffic that cannot take alternative routes is using the Pass, fine during the weekend when no heavies are on the road but during the week it is down to a 15 to 20mph or often less crawl with lengthy streams of cars and trucks.
If you are in a hurry or want to enjoy the road it is probably best avoided as due to heavy traffic in both directions overtakes and the ability to make any progress are severly limited
