Barn find - 1994 Strada 1000 - recommissioning.......

Jeez Ash your hands must be either getting stronger or be bloody sore after all this sanding and polishing

Great work :thumb

I have a full polishing kit..
So Ash's hands just hold the items.
The magic of polishing mops, compound, electricity & 500 watt motor does the work..

;)

No way could I do it by hand..

Decided to telephone KEIHAN Systems today to order a stainless H pipe ( collector box ) replacement.

As the covers on my collector box vibrate / rattle / split & the noise gets on my tits..

When i asked if they had a H pipe for a Strada 1000.
" never heard of that model was the reply ".

Now I'm aware of he rarity of my Guzzi, but was surprised KEIHAN's haven't come across my model.

So I ordered a stainless H pipe for a Mille GT, which has the same exhaust system, as the Strada model followed the Mille GT..

Part of the reason I'm keeper her. ( hopefully )
And the fact I love the look of it.

Will try to make it work 4 me -
A screen, Rox Antivibration Risers will go on & I may even get Clicktronic gear change put on it, the same as I have on my 700GS..

I will MOT, tax & ride her this summer b4 committing 100%...
Having my disabilities means any vehicle & so many other things in Ash's world has to be right for me to use them.
And no point keeping anything that doesn't work 4 me..

So fingers crossed ( well sort of in my case ) ;)

Fair play to you

As you say you still have to hold the items while you are polishing them

on some sort of electric motor thing I guess ???

You do get stuck right into these projects and what comes out the other end is a pure dream of a job :bow:bow

Wondering what mischief you will be up to next :aidan

Stainless balance pipe arrived & fitred
And the upswet Stainless silencers fitted.

How Much Weight did those wee changes save Ash

Feck me but when you see the originals they are like torpedoes compared to the neat wee new jobs

2.5 pounds on each silencer & 4 pounds on collector pipe..

Those new silencers look much better Ash. How do they sound ?

Bit more throtty/raspy without being to loud..

Would of bought a set of Armours in time had these not come up.
As the price of chroming is too high unless you are going down the Concourse route..
And at £120 including p&p they were a steal..

First piccy milky oil from when I got the bike.
With blocked breathers.. :(

Second piccy oil now.. :)
No blocked breathers

 that's nasty looks like water from the muddy creeks around here.
at least there's no metals particles on the sump plug.

haven't you just brought a 1150 gsa ? thought your days of giants were over :D is the Guzzi going to be for sale :augie

the bike looks amazing it really does

No GSA for me..
Sadly " giants " are to much for me.

Well I say that but the Strada ain't no lightweight...
Strada 230 KG or 566 lbs
GSA 232 KG or 570 lbs

But Strada is low down & nowhere as wide..

Feckity feck...:(

GIVI pannier frames.
Fitted, originally came off an SP3.
So a bit off head scratching & some gentle rear bodywork re modelling.
To get them to fit...

EDIT..
Wrong order of piccies 4 some reason.. :blast
