I bought a set of aluminium panniers from a gentleman who traded his bike. The locks are open and of course the keys are long gone. I cannot access the little tab to release the barrel , any other options available to me? Thanks for your help

You could go to the dealers and see if they have a key that fits from the bikes they have for sale. If they do buy a key from them withiot the immobiliser chip in it.

Pick them, high security they are not!

the wafers only move one way, despite how the key is cut

from memory there are only 4 or 5 wafers to tickle

Once out, use your current key to work out what wafers correspond to your key, and then you can ask for missing items

Unscrew the locks from the pannier and you will have easy access to the tab. Just be careful when handling them as there is about 5 different parts in the lock mechanism.

I don’t have BMW branded ones on my GSA, but my last one had, and when you open the locks, and pull the latch open, I’m sure you could see the wafer that held the lock in. A small sharp scriber, pull down the wafer and withdraw the lock very carefully as unless it’s factory coded, wafers will ping out.

11min into this video shows the crack

Yep,and the springs will disappear in an instant.....
