update zumo maps

Hello,
I brought my zumo (550) as part of the BMW package last OCT.
I can freely update : mapsource, zumo firmware, zumo speed traps..etc, safety camera locations, new voices, new drivers.. etc...

But there does not appear to be an option for me to update the actual zumo maps.
When I login to garmin, i get:

Do I have to purchase to upgrade my zumo maps, because it appears I do.
Has anybody else had to purchase, with a product purchases laee than a year.

I believe the map update can only be done within the first 60 days of first aquring a GPS signal.

Unfortunatly the offer does not keep them updated forever.

yes it is a bmw zumo.
When I purchased it I did initially upgrade the map udates to zumo on garmin's website. Perhaps that is all you get then, after that you have to purchase any more map updates.

Garmin AFAIK don't sell their zumo with free mapping upgrades for life, and can't see BM doing it either.

you're right, I've just rang Garmin support up this AM. They said once purchased you get 30 days for a free upgrade. After that it is £100 for a subscription for life.
