Very expensive 80g/s?

The blue GS never sold. But the white PD.... Wow!

The surprising thing in the auction for me was the Vincents and the Brough. They seemed cheaper to me than days of yore. For example, this Vincent Series B Rapide went for less than than the PD g/s:

Wow, yes £21,275. I'd have thought it would be worth closer to £50k. Either I'm way out of touch, or the generation interested in buying classics has become just a bit younger and bikes from the Vincent / Brough era are dropping in price. Less iconic models from that era - like the Douglas Dragonfly - might become quite affordable.

Spot on. £45/50k not so long ago (and always cheaper than Brough, which I've never really understood) Talking to a Rapide owner at the NMM day last year he reckoned prices of twins were dropping, especially the midly modified ones. Looks like he was right.
Same thing seems to be happening with bevel Ducatis, bar exceptional/rare machines. Marque specialists retiring and extortionate spares prices not helping. Prices are static at best whilst those of 888/916 and the like head ever upwards.

So in a couple of years I might be able to afford a Vincent? I hope so, as I’d like a rapide C series late as possible

I saw the bikes at Shuttleworth on Saturday, the day before the auction. They are absolutely spotless, I mean totally as new. Goodness knows how much they cost to get to that state. Lovely, but if I owned such a spotless classic I’d never ride it.

They both looked really nice bur there didn't seem to be many details about owners/milage ect ect
Was the PD a factory 999 bike ?

Both g/s and g/s pd look great….. but so clean that if I owned them I would be afraid to ride them in case they got dirty, scratched, bashed etc…..

But if I won the lottery, I would still want one of them in my garage, for use on good weather days only.
I use ours quite frequently. I don't go mud plugging with it because I know I would just get stuck, but happy to go mushroom picking off road, or take her fishing.

Great collection of “Schrooms” there.
Good to see an airhead getting used.

My ST bitsa will be off for a little trip to Dorset this coming weekend….. 2up for a mini adventure, meeting some mates.

I put the battery on charge last night and just reconnected and fired her up. Running sweetly, so I am off out in a bit to get the condensation burned off from the winter layup and then clean the alloy while it is warm!

What is the alloy tip? cheers

I have always found the alloy polishes more easily when it is warm. Same on my old Kawasaki Z750 twin. Maybe it is just that it softens the polish and helps it spread?
