My mate's got a CCM 650 (the 604RS) with a strange intermittent problem. Even though the throttle is closed the revs will start to rise from tickover without warning. Stopping it involves either switching off or holding the front brake and letting out the clutch in gear.

We think it must be something to do with the carb slide raising itself, although the cable and linkage are free and well-lubricated and the return spring seems to work fine.
It's a bit baffling. All suggestions welcome.

Also, make sure that the slide is clean (solvol) and wack a bit of WD40 in there - they have a tendancy to stick, as does the choke assembly (very common problem). Again, WD is your friend :thumb2

problem solved

Twas ineed an air leak. There was a rip in the rubber connected between carb and inlet manifold that was only visible when the connector was removed.

Bike running perfectly now. Many thanks for the help
