Number plate light

Anyone know if it is an MOT failure if you don't have a light for the Number plate?
I have a small tail/stop light fitted but not close to the number plate so do I need to rig one up for the MOT?

Yes, if you have lights, there must be a numberplate illuminator.

I phoned 2 MOT places yesterday and one said yes one said no, good to see there is consistency, but have the bulb I need to covert the one I removed from my Triumph and bolt to the XL
