portable oven

On a related note, you can make a small oven using your cookware if you have a Trangia-style saucepan with a frying pan 'lid'. Put the lid down on the heat source (inside facing down, so the edges lift it up a bit), then put the saucepan upside down on top of it to create the chamber to cook in.

To allow a bit of air in, either overhang one edge of the pot over the lid, or use something small that will stand the heat (tent peg, tyre iron, etc.) to raise the edge up a few millimetres.

You can do this on top of a BBQ grill, gas stove, fire, etc.

I've heard (although I've not had a chance to try it yet personally) that you can do it on top of a stove without the frying pan lid part. When my new Kifaru arrives in a couple of weeks I'll give it a go (as well as trying out using the stove itself as an oven.

We have done a full three course meal including leg of lamb, using coleman stoves and a coleman oven while out camping on the bikes:thumb2

So you'd put that oven on say the top of the eldfel 7 pro stove then ?

I'm amazed it would get hot enough.

What is wrong with using rocks, or damp seaweed if on the beach.....earth over embers too. Alloutdoor "ovens"
