I was approached by a chap at my local classic bike club to see if I knew any members who would be interested in a 1957 BSA 250 C12. He said it had been dismantled for restoring and he'd never got round to it. There were also some bits missing.....So I went to see it and was surprised to find this.
The only dismantling that had been done was he'd taken the tank off and started rubbing it down for repainting. The bit missing was the brake cable as the current one is broken! So I bought it for a bargain price. The engine and frame numbers match but the original reg was sold and the bike is on an age related plate. It also came with a load of manuals, service and parts books.
I shan't be restoring it to a bright shiny thing, preferring to keep that well used look. I intend to change the seat for a sprung single saddle. Hopefully I'll end up with something like this.
