I changed the gearbox oil last night and was surprised to find it cream coloured!! Does this mean that water has been in the gearbox and if so how has it got in?

Only had the bike for a few weeks so don’t know its history.

Cheers, Andy

yes

it usually runs down the speedo cable. new rubber & lashings of silicone grease (NOT sealant) should help.

Just strangle it with a cable tie. It works :thumb

Great, thanks for the replies.

It`s known as 'mayonnaising' when oil is contaminated with water.

Often also occurs in engine oil when a vehicle only does short runs and never gets to proper operating temperature.

The previous posts have the solution for your problem :thumb

Thanks guys,

The mod has been done, I think I'll change the oil again in a couple of hundred miles to be on the safe side.

I like mods like that, nice, easy and cheap. :D

Cheers,
Andy
