North Yorkshire - but the map isn't the territory
Another option for us up here sport wise.

No, not running while wearing ladies clothing :D

I haven't been for near 20 yrs, Bev not at all, so decided to pop along at w/e.

Meet was on on BH too, but we had somewthing else on so went on Sunday, great days entertainment for £12.50 p/p. No restrictions on access...unless you want to wander on the 1/4 mile of course, so lots of opportunities to see all up close and talk to folk, great :thumb

As this is a bike site (NOT a club, no definately not a club...phew ) so I'll start with the m/c's before digressing :D

So which would win in the above pics?

BM, and BM

I spoke to the gentleman later having looked over his bike looking for a super or turbo charger but without finding anything.

The rider was a 'mature' guy and told me the bike had K&N filters, a race exhaust, and a changer on gearshift to make thing quicker...nowt else.

Well, he'd taped speedo so only watched revs, and was good at aticipating the lights.

He wasa VERY quick when you consider that is virtually standard - he's beaten Veyrons, and on a pretty cheap bike really, amazing how things have moved on in 20 yrs. The cost of the whole bike with mods would probably cover just some of the engine work on other drag bikes from 20 yrs ago to get similar speed :eek Impressive

Some interseting and nice other machinery there too, the Weslake and Beezer were VERY LOUD :D

And this brought laffs and smiles to all...

An 88mph run wasn't bad for PP eh?

Husquarna engine and very little room inside! Believe it is based on the ones outside amusement arcades!

It's a great rural setting and though somewhat tired and basic I think that adds to the event, give it a whirl some time :thumb

Impressed by Problem Child, very 'exciting' handling with the steering wheels in air while powering off line askew :eek

So all in all, a great day out worth a visit if you fancy a change...and being asphyxiated and deafened too

A few final reflections :p

Thanks for that if i am in the UK on the 22nd i will do the RWUB, i will be staying near York

We used to do the rwyb about 20 years ago. Really good fun especially if your racing against your mates. I suppose it is hi tech now, previously the times were dropped down a drainpipe from the timing office:D

The loudest thing I have ever heard in my life was the jet car with afterburner, it made a current F1 car sound like an FS1E

Did it's only run just as we arrived - still on bikes with lids on so missed out :(

Didn't run again on Sunday - think something needed a bit of TLC...

H&S where it should be - individual responsibility, close up and personal exciting all on action :clap

Thanks for posting this Fritz - like Bev I've never been. Sometimes us locals miss out on treasures right under our noses!:nenau

All the best, Jim.

Ay up Jim - I think I owe you an email...oops...:eek

Maybe there could be a (distincly NOT a club :p) run out? We're away for the Sept one which would be the last hurrah for the 'big' stuff. Well worth a ride out if weather good and you fancy something a bit different.

Pencil in a reminder for next summer and maybe we could have a gathering :thumb

thanks Fritz - went a long time ago when I first moved to Yorkshire - didn't realise it was still going on :)
