Got an installed photo - for us eejits ?

Side impact protection system

I thought the name would give it away,
Where they sit ! i mean
Weight : Depends on what you want , these are solid bar
I had thought that hollow stainless would be strong enough.

Thoughts

i can't see the point of these....

But the top racks you got done are a good idea...but why the one like a bow tie, whats the purpose of it? why the narrow bit in the middle?

1 The point of the S.I.P.s is , when i was tying my bike down on the boat
i used to tie it to the boat wall , without any real concern for the panniers
this year , with my shiney Powder coated panniers i was more than
reluctant to tie the bike in this manner. Now with this i can .
+ Whilst filtering on the M6 i scored the RhS Pannier on a car.
Basically to keep your shiney panniers Shiney and add a degree of Butchness.

2 The Narrow bit in the Middle ! Why not , it still fulfills the basic function.
These are Tie Downs. I am just finnishing a Figure of 8 , in the same vein.
Dont you think they look Cool !.

Bleedin handy bit of kit that - the one on the right is a mobile towel rail the one on the left doubles as a BBQ grill :thumb

Are you going to produce S.I.P.S.F.S.I.P.S. SIDE IMPACT PROTECTION SYSTEM FOR SIDE IMPACT PROTECTION SYSTEM.

I though panniers were wide enough already???

I've just thought of the down side to the SIP's

people who will buy your panniers are likely seasoned travellers and hard core GS'ers... the panniers are there to serve a functional purpose...and carry stuff in.
they need the panniers with war wounds and battle scars...otherwise they'll look like big Pipe and Slippers nancy boys :) ...all show and no go.

plus they'll add width to the bike :( and make the GS's look like gold wing panniers :D

And i don't think they would provide much protection on an off...maybe a drop but not an off at speed or on dirt...
but i think the top racks are a good idea :D ...now you need to develop a extra fuel carring device and a quick mounting system so the panniers can be removed when you don't need them ;) :thumb
