Whether its still for sale or not,the debaters on value seem to be missing the point basically because they were not interested in the bike.
Chris Hall motorcycles have a 2002 C90 up for £2500 and a AP50 for £3495.
Classic Superbikes have a 76 R90S up for £6500
The Bike Specialists have 916 Foggy Rep 63/202 for £37,980 bearing in mind this has not been ridden by Foggy or signed by him this is a bit salty.
Quote from the December Motorcycle Mechanics on the R80GS,Its the one the collectors and most serious enthusiasts go for.
Prices consequently soar past the £5000 mark and keep going depending on the condition and availability.
So basically if you desperate to own something price becomes secondry:nenau

This has to be one of my favourite all time UKGSer threads.

And its a while since we've had a ...

:D

Ahhhh A, D ......
My offer still stands 100% ..cash waiting.....I'll even collect Xmas day...
£10,000 thats Ten Thousand pounds.......

I can see no chance of it being accepted tho' A.D.

You are obviously not aware of whats been going on last couple of years......

If this was my M/C and I was selling it would be entered into a Bonhams sale with a £10k reserve.
It would be very difficult to value such a unique bike with the PD connection but I would happily wager it would fetch in excess of £10k if bought to the attention of collectors in a large prestigious auction.

Hey I'm off the ignore list :bounce1

Happy Christmas you old git.

There are a number of ways to begin value a bike like this. Either it's a genuine HPN assembled machine built for BMW or it's a replica of those supplied to BMW for competition using left-over HPN parts. Rather like this:

Goodwood%20004-M.jpg

That I snapped at Goodwood back in 2004. It was then thrashed up the Hill:

Goodwood%20033-M.jpg

There was yet another, virtually identical bike in the BMW pavilion at Goodwood the same year. Neither were ex-Dakar bikes, both were genuine HPN/BMW machines built as replicas for such display purposes.

Then again it may be a reproduction put together with suitable frame and reproduction parts by anyone with the skills, time, money and access to the wealth of information about the works machines.

The stamped number is meaningless without certification from HPN or BMW. Give me the bike, some wet & dry, a tube of Solvol, some Fry's etching fluid (and a 6 volt boost if necessary) and I'll find what, if anything, was originally stamped into the frame.

If it can be proved to be an ex-works Dakar bike linked to a particular rally and a specific rider, the value will be much greater, what exactly that value is would depend on who, when and what the result of the rally was.

Without being authenticated by HPN/BMW it is a nice reproduction that's been well sorted. The value is subjective, it's worth what someone is prepared to pay for it and in the absence of certification, that's the best that can be said.

Agreed and if it where mine I would be snapping a hand off with a firm offer of £10k.

Mike...
Camille is NOT a HPN..
Camille is a French BMW... built special.... HPN didn't go all out BMW till '85 and pinched GR to ride for them....
The 84 bikes are all well documented [there were only 3 built]
I'll leave it to Syco to divulge if he wishes to..

The value of any old motorbike is subjective and the price paid can and often does get reflected in other M/Cs for sale at the same auction or time and many other factors.
I still think the bike would fetch £10k at a decent auction on the basis of what the history might be as opposed to trying to discover what it is.

Keith, my point about authentication still applies, provenance is everything when it comes to real value.

If it is authentic and can be proved, then the value goes up to whatever the market can stand. :thumb2

Exactly Mike...

For instance, Camilles ORIGINAL tank is now back on her...
It's now [2012] a lot more authentic than a lot of so called historic bikes..
In the 3 years since this post was started a lot of stuff has been discovered about Camille.....

As Bob Dylan once said.....

Well, I don't know, but I've been told
The streets in heaven are lined with gold
I ask you how things could get much worse
If the Russians happen to get in there first
Wowee! pretty scary !
