Just been for a service at BMW Coopers in TW (I know...)

I've noticed a bit of oil on the ledge right at the bottom rear of the engine, above the oil pan (?) It's dripping onto the bash plate at the bottom, but not enough to drip onto the garage floor so I take it it's only leaking when being driven. Bike is a 2004 1200GS.

Guys at the garage reckon it could be one of the oil seals in the gearbox and have suggested a complete strip down and replace all the oil seals (All 4?). He also "suggested" that it might be a good idea to replace the clutch while they're in there... (The clutch is fine at the moment and the bike has only done 16K miles). For the record the clutch is NOT slipping.

Total price including VAT and parts comes to around £1500... which I haven't got.

So I'm after advice please chaps... I'm hoping you're going to tell me about somewhere in the South East that will be much cheaper, or failing that somebody on here who like farkling and doing jobs for cash :augie

Steptoe?

I've sent him a PM... Wait and see now.

Now all I need to do is find a bloody T55 torx key to change the bar ends and install my new farkling stainless cruise control... :D

Another thumbs up for Steptoe, he did a cracking job on my 1200 starter motor / ring gear.

I'll do it for £1400........cash;)

I had a leaky rear gearbox seal which did it for about 10k before I bothered to do anything about it!!

I'll do it for £13999, or buy the bike for £1400.00 with FREE collection. But if you fail to accept my wonderful offer Steppers will sort it!.

motoscot, good guy who will do an excellent job for a fair price...nuff said

Kent independent

I've heard some good noises (but have yet to gain any direct experience) regarding Brian Giles at BGM - Independent BMW bike mechanic and suggest you 'google his ass!' - You'll find the website easy enough and if Coopers are near to you then BGM can't be too far away.

Cheers

Nev

call it an even 20K and I'll throw a curry and a couple of beers in...:thumb2
