The best part of £17000 for a new GSA or GS and all i keep seeing on this forum , is issues with corrosion ................Surely thats not good publicity for BMW to have , with many many issues with corrosion on a premium brand , me thinks orange is the way forward . Even ducati with there multistrada have many issues . These bikes cost a fortune so please manufacturers ........SORT YOUR SHIT OUT :D

Yeah, I spent £17,000 on my brand new GSA Triple Black. Done 1600 miles on it now and no fucking corrosion anywhere.

Wheres mine!!!! I paid for it...

All I got was a well balanced, quick, smooth engine, smooth gearbox, total pleasure to ride.

Feeling cheated. Fake BMW GSA.

By the sounds of it you won't have to wait much longer , be patient :D

Those who ride and rough it out don't seem to get much of corrosion :hide

To be fair though, I always try and keep as much of my bike out of the water as possible.

(Yes this really is a picture of me) :beerjug:

Are you just reading the same post over and over?

For me it's a big investment, too one I wouldn't be happy with if the thing started to fall apart ,not very confidence inspiring, for a premium brand

To be fair to BMW, all bikes fall apart if they're not cleaned and looked after properly, especially riding through water, salt, snow or washed with harsh chemicals.

Yes paint is waterbased now and not as tough as the 'old days', yes cars in comparison have multiple paint protection coats and dont rust (to the eye). But bikes are exposed to a lot of crud. Or stored in damp or wet, poor airflow store rooms where moisture lingers.

If they protected the frame, engine and wheels with multi-layered coatings, stainless steel bolts everywhere and bomb proof no corrosion, everyone would be moaning about the overall weight, or cost to buy, or other 'weakest link' in the build.

I think 'premium brand' expectations are a mill stone around BMW neck. They'll never win.

Personally i'm gobsmacked amazed how people get new engines and drive shafts on here for corrosion warranty claims. Truly amazed. Most manufacturers would tell you to sling your hook elsewhere.

You said it was all you were seeing on this forum. Given the vast range of shit posted here, I wondered if you just kept clicking on the same post.

In the words of Trigger, 'look after your bike .....'

Always look after my bikes and love to ride them , reliability is what I'm after not issues

I have had 4 1200GSes since 2005, put an average of 30,000 miles on each one and no major corrosion issues - I wash my bikes weekly and protect with FS 365 and ACF 50 - why am I not getting severe corrosion?

Because you're out there riding them. Not letting them sit dormant for weeks/months on end with no life.
