£18,354 - Honda Africa Twin DCT Rally

The thing is with farkles....many of them can be removed & sold on still at a decent price once you move the bike on.

Yes, assuming....

A) The bike wasn't stolen.
B) The parts weren't stolen.
C) The bike wasn't written off and you killed in the process.
D) The parts are still in a suitable condition to sell after you've finished using them.
E) You're still fit, healthy and motivated enough to disassemble everything.
F) You've kept all the original parts to transplant back onto it.

True, but so far I've done this with every bike I owned. The only item I couldn't be arsed removing was the pipe on my last GS, because it had seemingly welded itself to the headers :D

Ahh the major "farklers" are coming out of the woodwork now. Bet you dont get the ire thrown your way that i got when i was told to "ride the bloody thing" instead of adding more "uesless tat" as it was described. You guys are in a league of your own when it comes to bikes "dripping with bling" :blast:P:D

Bloody hell!

I thought I was doing well @ £5k of extras for my 1290! :D

Were you trying when the exhaust is cold? If so, next time heat it up so it's hot, engine running for a short while. Some nice oven mitts and it'll slide right off :D

Haha good tip there, cheers WL :thumb

I don't class myself as a farkler as such. Everything done so far has been for practical reasons, there's no bling here...

Topbox & fitting kit
Seat tailbag
Fork air dam (stops buffeting)
Stubby adjustable levers
Suspension setup by KAIS

If it was stolen, how much would the insurance company pay you back??

Well, I presume pretty much everything....

I'm insured with Express Insurance Services, underwritten by AXA Insurance.

On the documents I have it covers fully comprehensive and unlimited bike accessory cover.... but not including Navigation Equipment, clothing or helmets.

As I actually own the motorcycle, I'm not in the precarious position of having to pay back a debt, so it'll only be a 'tough shit' situation if I didn't get a lot back for it.

In the meantime, I'd have to use one of my other bikes (unless they were all stolen at once).

Also, I've used my Dog Piss Gun on every one of my bikes, so any thieves can fuck right off :D

Smartwater Forensically Coded every main component on my bikes.... so if parts get nicked, and can be found (or suspected), it can be proven they came from my machines.

Whereas DataTag will mark your bike frame and engine numbers on a database, but that's all it does.

Smartwater will forensically mark every single individual part on your motorcycle, including accessories and farkles.

NOTHING escapes.

So if a part of your bike goes missing or ends up on eBay, it can be identified if found. No arguments, no excuses. :thumb2

The cops search for Smartwater marked items now, so it's a good start.

Where can I get a handful of those 'Smartwater Forensically Coded' stickers? ;)

Something tells me that the traceability is somewhat diminished when it is stolen by the Latvian mafia group. :blast

The stickers are optional.... the actual Smartwater is applied with an application stick. It's invisible except under UV Black Light. So you only need the smallest of dabs, apply in awkward places not easy to rub away but can be easily seen if searched on.

Enjoy :D

If the mafia have it, then all is lost. Just rely on your insurance money and the fact you at least tried :D

so now you've got ONE for the price of TWO :D

I have
bagster tank cover £100
holan panniers and frames £500
barkbusters £100
centrestand £100
Touratech rally suspension £2500
crash bars £200
bash plate £200
spare wheels with discs £500

so £4200 but the suspension was apprehended from a rally bike I had so worked out I didn't pay for it. so actually shelled out £1700 ish . happy with that as its a brilliant bike now, just as I want it ,except I like the idea of tubeless wheels :green gri. not sure I trust the outex or 3m tape so may bite the bullit one day
