£200 to spend on tarting up a 1200 TB

So guys
I didn't start this tread to show off , if I did then I am sorry !
I am just a motorbike enthusiast just like you that works hard to fulfil my dream and my ambition . :D
It is a good idea to shear and ask opinion not to be to critical .
I have only asked what can I get for £200 for my bike , that's all !:nenau

its crying out for some protection for your fog lights:thumb

Just to show off :D

The shocks look great :thumb. Why don't you flog the screen and put the money towards a Desierto fairing

Taste is a very personal thing, 'Handy' obviously cherishes his machine & no-one has to look at the pictures if they don't want to. Bit over the top for me mate & with all that weight on my old 1976 Fizzy would p*ss all over it ... lol

Personally there is not over the top realy , is just to ordinary comfort and protection staff , is just well looked after and clean , money well spend and 100 % return ,
Like I bought my 1150 for 11k and after 6 years I sold it for £7k , done 43k miles and sold all most new bike . The person that I sold the bike is actually just comming mack to Uk from round the world trip , I just meet him in NZ only in February and the bike is trouble free ! I will probably get the bike back from him at a very reasonable price .
So investing in protection an comfort brings you a long way ahead:thumb

Yes I have about £200 (or more ) to spen on tarting up the bike 1200GSA but wat more can I get as I bought all most anything that can get hold on to personalise my bike .
So what bling do you have on yours and what is special about it ?!
Now tat I know how to post a picture , I will may post a picture off my full Adventure Bike :)

Why?

Why not just spend the money on using the bike (i.e. fuel / weekend away) instead of chucking unecesary bling at it that likely makes the bike heavier?

That's why!
You are so silly , I do over 5k miles at the time mate !
I don't go to Tesco or Ace coffe for a blast !

I'm struggling to understand why some of you guys get so uptight about an owner spending on their bike, or doing things with their bike that differ to what you may consider acceptable :blast Biking is commonly about doing things differently - why is it acceptable in your minds to tart up a sports bike with bling but not a GS? Or maybe it's just a few fairly narrow minded individuals who have bigger balls because they take their bikes on bigger trips? Said narrow-minded individuals usually struggle to get on in life as well and have a desire to be keyboard warriors instead :blagblah

I don't do bling on my bike, but likewise I don't take it off road and have no intention to do so. I do wash it though and keep it in a condition that's as close to new as possible. It has like many had a few added extras - crash bars because I'll inevitably drop it, bigger screen because it's more effective, sat-nav because I struggle to use a map when I'm moving, etc. Everything has a practical reason.

But that doesn't stop me from understanding that an owner may want to add something simply because it looks tarty, bling or whatever, however useless it might be. Think you might find the folks at BMW think that way as well and tend to put a lot of thought into colour schemes, special editions, the Triple Black, accessories etc. This might of course suggest that to take an arrogant "just ride it and get it dirty" point of view would put some of you in the minority. But ho hum, it takes all sorts to make a world. And now I'll get of my soap box!

As an aside, some info for the OP ... be aware that exhaust wrap can cause a massive increase in the heat retained in the head/valve area and also downstream, usually at the cat. I've used exhaust wrap on 2 occasions in car engines, and in one case the additional heat in the head was enough to melt the mounting points of the plastic timing belt cover - a normally aspirated 1900cc putting out 244bhp so not lowly tuned, but a problem nonetheless. If everything else is perfect you might get away with it but with the history of valve-head breakages on the R1200 I'd certainly reconsider the merits of it.

Thanks for the lovely coments , Only if my English was much better :D:thumb

All of this, IMO.

I think some of the posts in this thread is what is keeping me away from subscribing to this forum. It's a shame, but there does seem to be an awful lot of snobbery here that I've not found on the other couple of forums I frequent.......I used wonder why no-one ever nods/waves when I'm out on my GS, but plenty do when I'm on one of my other bikes..... maybe they've all read threads on here and assume we're all the same :nenau

Having said that, it appears there are a lot of good guys here that don't immediately judge people/posts/threads and have plenty of good, helpful advice to hand out.

At the end of the day, bikes are personal things and what one does to his/hers may well seem equivalent to blasphemy to others, but it's their choice. I know it's a public forum and all that, but surely we remember being taught "if you can't say anything nice, don't say it?"

Internet muscles, eh? :)

Who's getting uptight?

Seems to me the only one getting uptight is you, resorting to insults because *oh gosh!* some people have expressed an opinion that is different from yours :nenau

Biking is commonly about doing things differently

Quite right.....so why do you have such a problem with people expressing a different point of view?

..........and you're as guilty yourself with your sanctimonious post

I think you and some others need to know that there is some history to the OP here and he's more than capable of taking 'it' as well as dishing it out :)

FWIW I think the bike is one of the most horrible 1200's I've seen in a long time but, as others have said, "it's Sani's money, good luck to him" :thumb

You came to the right place for opinions, this forum is full of them. Like has already been said, it's a shame that it so frequently spoils an otherwise useful and entertaining forum.

Roll up roll up who else wants to put themselves in the barrel and have the piss relentlessly and crudely taken out of them.

Talk about about a bloomin clique on here.

@OP..
Your money
Your bike
Your taste (not mine though, but WTF)

BTW @ Johnny Boxer thanks for your post and pics, a great machine. (but not to my taste either ;))
