£6000 to change, for that price I could buy an....

trade in on 2006 k1200s

It certainly is blue and matches my recently purchased S1 Pro nicely

Very impressed with the ESA and panniers which are actually useful, rather than the miniscule efforts on the K1200S :thumb2

as we say out west , well wear on the new bike, and safe riding.
as a matter of (not quite) idle curiosity, what did you get as a trade in value on the 2006 k1200s?

£4600  Pretty crap for a £12k bike (with extras), but both dealers offered the same :tears

Very poor trade-in :augie If that is the case, then I may have been lucky :D

What was the mileage? colour? etc

As Johny said, robbed

Why was he robbed:nenau Sven seems to be perfectly happy with the deal and second hand bike prices are right on their arse at the moment and I doubt whether he would have sold it elsewhere for any more.

Your right, if he was happy with the deal then so be it. Just seemed a very low figure given the trade in I was given (hence the questions on mileage etc). However it is all history and totally irrelevant anyway :D

Sven enjoy the bike, I am having changed from the K12S to the 1200GS. This is the important factor :beerjug:

I wasn't impressed by the part-ex value as it had dropped a grand since springtime, but both dealers offered similar prices. Managed to beat them down on the price of the GS and the APR on the loan, so the overall cost to change wasn't too bad.

Besides the K was out of warranty and considering how much warranty work it'd had done in the past three years, I was nervous about keeping it. My lack of self-restraint was also a concern as the K was far too eay to ride at custodial speeds :ymca

First impressions of the GS are good and it suits our needs better nowadays as we spend most of the time fast touring or thrashing around the backroads of the North :thumb2

Trouble is , with two bikes in the garage, one will get used a lot less ;) you'll then start to feel like its wasted space/money sitting there ....

...

Tell me about it, I havn't used my PD for 18 months or my HP2 since GOTC last June:(

I would find out which one is best for you 2 up if your partner goes out with you. Mind you it is nice to have more than 1 bike just because....... well just because:P

Skint now

Expensive hobby changing bikes:

- Famsa tankbag £108 incl. postage - excellent quality; much nice than the SW Motech Bags Connection tankbag I had on my K1200S, although not as convenient

- SW Motech engine bars - look good and relatively easy to fit.

- BMW sat nav mount - £76 including the power cable, but much neater than the after market stuff

- Givi SR689 rack £78 - looks much sturdier than the BMW item and allows me to use my Givi topbox

- Puig hugger - doddle to fit and reasonable quality. Not sure how much dirt it'll keep off :nenau

Just got to ride the thing now as it's done 23 miles in 5 weeks :augie

Sven
Great looking bike.:thumb2
Not many blue ones around so stands out a bit.
Good luck with it and enjoy.

Cheers
JJ

Sven ... where is your old K12?? Which dealer did you trade it in at?

What was the spec and mileage??

:augie

Finally managed to get out for a decent ride today and loved it - the ESA suspension keeps everything nicely under control and it was a joy scratching down the Hawes - Ribblehead - Settle road :D

It was nice and comfy too with the commanding riding position giving excellent forward visibility. Camr back with next to no chicken strips despite the temperature only being 3.5 - 7.5 degrees all afternoon
