Does anybody know if the gear box from a R80G/S and a R80GS 1991 have the same ratios ?
Persumably same input/output locations !

The same ratios but you will need to swap the output oil seal to suit the bike it's going in.

No, change the seal - mono seals are designed to stop oil both sides, paralevers seals work just the one side.

Have I got this right . . :nenau

If the box is going onto a Paralever, it shouldn't matter which oil seal it has as there's no oil (intentionally) in the swing arm to get into the gearbox. The notch should still be filled to stop gearbox oil getting into the swingarm.

If the box is going onto a Monolever it should have the Monolever oil seal and have the notch left open.

Bracing myself for the replies :D

My new-ish/replacement/spare/fleabay box is off a 83 r100 and now fitted to a 91 para
I noted it has a different seal - I have splodged some silicone in the top vent notch
I recon all the venting will be done through the vent hole - or if that fails it will breath through the speedo drive ( if water gets in that way air or venting should get out )
and its had some thrash - and it will get some more - Its a airhead not a honda
