Öhlins Set-Up - Harris Performance Parts

Visited Harris Performance Parts at Hertford yesterday morning to get the suspension sorted on my Adv. The front end had been extremely squirrely since the rebuild & the back end over-soft (the shocks had been fitted by my BMW dealer at factory settings).

Richard & Dominic, who live in an Alladin's cave of Öhlins parts, spent an hour questioning/diagnosing/measuring/tweaking, interspersed with me taking it for a couple of blasts down their recommended twisty test route .

Result? It's like a new bike, completely planted, stays on line on a bend no matter what, doesn't understeer and doesn't 'tramline' on overbanding.

Cost? £25 (!)

Recommended? You bet - top blokes with a top quality service.

A couple of questions :
1, Did they remove your shocks to adjust them.
2, Did they change the springs.

No, they didn't remove them. The adjustment we ended up with was an increase in rebound damping on the front and an increase on the pre-load on the rear.

When originally ordered, my dealer rang Harris and explained my (not insignificant ) weight to them, as well as the use I intended to put the bike to. They contacted Öhlins, who advised that the front shock could be fitted standard, while the rear one would require a heavy duty (one stage up) spring. The valving remained standard on both shocks.

If your shocks need any parts/re-springing/re-valving etc, the room the above pic was taken in has racks and racks of spare parts allowing them to do most of this on site.
