Liking the painted screen. I did the same with the GS1150 screen I had on my rockster,except I painted the outside.Think I prefer your method tho.Reckon I may follow your example there,if`n you dont mind a touch o` plagiarism o` course
I was thinking of trying that tail light tinting spray the hothatch boyracers seem to like on thier Corsas
By the wayargee,is that the Twally after powdercoat,or an AdvSpec bashplate?

Nice headlamp protector Argee, having seen yet another F800GS with a split front lamp from a stone-chip.
It's just not worth risking your own wallet by not having one; £246 brandnew headlamp...

Cheers guys, it looks even better with the Rallye seat on, but thats having gel put in it at the mo...
Anyhoo, in no particular order:
Its a Twalcom bash plate powder coated black,
the panniers are actually 10l Kriega packs strapped to the vario luggage bars with a 20l on the tail rack, was ample for a week in ireland,
and the headlight guard is the BMW one (£20 iirc) with the arms powder coated, you guessed it, black.
It looks even better in the metal, praps we should hook up for a mutual appreciation session.....

MMs black bash plate
If anyones interested,Metal Mule are now doing a black powdercoated version of thier `bullet proof, 650/800GS bash plate.Decided to go for 1 myself as I have thier engine bars,and the price is still discounted

Wunderlich crash bars
In case anyone is still following this thread I thought I would post some pics of the Wunderlich Standard engine bars (not the Adventure). I got them special order from NN for £169 +pp and they arrived in less than 2 weeks. Made, I believe, by Hepco and Becker these are about £40 dearer than their own brand, and quite similar, but I think they suit the line of the bike better (a fool and his money...!). They also fit around the BMW bashplate fitted to my bike.
Although they do not provide the same level of protection to the rad and plastic as something like the Motech ones, I think they are the best looking of all the bars on the market for the 800gs (and I am not planning on doing the road of bones in the immediate future!)

Which bash plate?
I have narrowed it down to Beamers own or TT plate. I know I would have to buy two part so the TT one would protect everything but the price works out the same/cheaper.
Anyone with comments on the pro's and cons? Plan to ride to Russia in 2012 so is important I pick the right one. I belive both will fit with my givi engine bars (on order from ashton accessories)

I have the Bmw bash plate (which It hought was same as the TT so its a matter of who is cheaper
) also Givi crash bars. Powder coated it Black, and also the TT Tool box fits the BMW plate / Crud catcherHeres a pic.

You have to buy a separate bit to cover the oil filter but work out cheaper. Probably going to go for the BMW plate. Like the tool box on the front.

, Your right TT do there own I was mistaken the Tool box / crud catcher from TT fits the BMW bash plate.I had both parts powdercoated by a place in Essex called Vulcans, I'm sure you could locate a powder coater close to you I had a few bitts done for a score. Matt black, 30% gloss.
I like the practical side of it that I can carry tools, also else where , first aid kit, and puncture repair kit without having any luggage, as in part of the bike and always with mec
. when you do put the luggage on you get more space rob think of that trans american tour) any how dust has settled now while i waffled on, heres them pictures, you asked for as you can see it done its job this is after riding a dusty trail up a mountain and through a stream... its good protection imagine the pounding the engine will take over, time knocks and crud It got a fair amount of pebble and rock dashing. underneath preserved like a pickle

Metal mule crash bar
It's time for me to invest in crash bars for my GS and I've narrowed it down do SW-Motech, Adv-spec or Metale mule. Adv-spec and Metal mule seems very similar, but it seems for me after seeing at pictures that the ones from Metal mule might have som more room for my knees than the ones from Adv-s. As I'm 187 cm tall and 35"/36" inseem I'm afraid my knees might touch the Adv-s bars. Does anyone know if the ones from Metal mule have more room for the knees? Other pro/cons experience for the metal mule crash bars?

I have the Metal Mule crashbars . I consider them more elegant on the bike than the adv-spec, because the crossbeam is attached subtly to the side bars through a single bolt on each side.
Also, they dont have a huge distance from the faux-tank (about 22mm) which is very convient for me, since I use it as an everyday bike, I have to filter in the traffic sometimes.
My knees touch very rarely when I sit in the very front and brake very suddendly. In your case this will be more frequent since you are 7cm taller than me.
