luggage Plate costs

Gents,

got the material through today for the spacers, - well tough stuff, :thumb2

the price for the plate comes out at £65 delivered UK, any for overseas will be a few quid more.

Whaddya think ?:thumb

I would need to get a few orders together to "get a batch" for the materials, say 6-7, but then we should be good to go:clap

Anyone used this company's panniers before ?

http://www.stahlkoffer.com/technical.php

I Know this guy personally and his product is good. He used my bike to make the F650 (single) frames. Good value panniers, made in the UK. Tested these over a wet weekend and they were great. Clever mouting mechanism too, quick release doesnt need going into the box to release it.

Hopefully he will getting the 800 frames sorted soon (i think he may use my bike for this), so will post pics....

Probably over the winter...

I cant see them costing more than the TT lot, infact Bernie, if you're reading this, post the price of the 1200 ADV kit for comparison.

SW Motech - Evo Quick Lock - fitting problems

Does anybody who has fitted this system on F800GS have problems with the top quick release screw on the exhaust side - specifically with the tip of the screw pushing into the fairing when it it is the locked position. If so, has anybody come up with a fix yet, short of forcing the pannier frame section upwards a little to take it away from the fairing - which I cant imagine for a moment is a satisfactory solution !!!

I think samuelsnow had that problem. I've got these carriers too, but don't have an issue. (I have an issue where a big bump cased the bracket underneath on the exhaust side to flex enough to ding the exhaust tho!)

Had this prob on the F650GS - took a hacksaw / grinder to the screw tips and got shot of them.

SW Motech frame - Zega panniers

Ok, Ive bought a Motech Quick Lock frame for an 800GS. Does anyone know if I can fit the Zega panniers to this frame system? .... Thanks, :mmmm

Luggage options

Just a question, does anyone have the overall width for the pannier systems, am especially interested in the alpos system. :thumb2

Dont want one bike saying to another saying does my bum look big in this set of panniers ! ;)

There's a table somewhere on the site, with all the widths - not sure where it is though.

The table is a great help BUT, I want to know the width of the alpos system as at just over 400 quid am looking to buy a set for christmas.
Can anyone help me with the width please ?

Bradders,
I only got around to measuring mine on the bike on Saturday. They are 1040mm exactly, using the balanced system on the SWM frames.
Hope this is of help.

Hiya SJ,

Thanks for the dimensions, am waiting to see how stahlkoffer panniers and frames look first before I take the plunge one way or another :thumb2

Does anyone have the width measurements of the OEM BMW Adventure cases? I'm trying to decided if its this or the Nolan mounts.

Zega ali side cases for an 800GS ....... info needed please

Need to tap into the wealth of knowledge that is UKGSer! .....

Having recently switched from an 1150GS (with BM Ali luggage cases) to a 800GS, I'm looking at viable luggage options for the new bike.

Planning a pretty longish trip next year which means some strong side boxes. Not looking to keep them for the long term however ...... part with them on return (if they're in any state to sell!)

From what I've seen like the look of Zega cases ...... but this is my question:

Am I correct in assuming that it's the Zega fitting frames for specific bike models that differ, the cases are identical, ie interchangable between bikes?

BTW assuming the answer is YES .............................................................

Does anybody on here want to sell on a pair of said cases, or know of somebody who does?

Thanks all.

They do jesse panniers for the 650 and 800 they look good two different sizes.

Kevin and Julia Sanders have an article in this months 'Motorcycle sport & Leisure' about traveling light. They use zega's but they say that if you have the space you will fill it.

I use ortlieb soft panniers mounted on Trax Evo racks which can also be quickly removed. If you go off road and are in a situation where you have to paddle through ruts or mud. Metal panniers can potentially break your legs.

many of the true adventure bikers use soft luggage. Check out www.motosyberia.com
