Paint flacking on front wheel hub!

Had my bumblebee for coming to 9 months now, , BUT just starting to noticed blistering/flacking paint around me front spokes on hub,This cant be happening as im always pulling out me hose and polishing it to death..there seems to be a differance in paint from back wheel? might be wrong but! thats ok and it gets more crud on it.
help..dont fancy takin it back to dealers just to be brushed off.

Anyone with same probs!!

You're entitled to a replacement because of corrosion i'm sure, especially as there's evidence of a difference in finish compared to the rear wheel. I'd get it to the dealer ASAP & insist on them replacing the wheel.

In short. it's a Warranty Issue imo.

I have a bit of flaking on the engine-
one on one of the spare threaded holes, and the other where the head gasket meets the cylinder- sprayed it with acf50, but will mention it next time it goes in for a farkle fitting

Paint coming off frame and engine

Hi all,

After a couple of rides with MX boots I have noticed that the paint on the frame where the boots make contact has come off, also the left side of the engine casing, where the clutch is, has some parts where the paint is coming off.

With all the rain that has fallen this last days there are a couple of rust dots appearing so I will have to repaint it soon.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Or wear slippers.

or buy the Touratech covers that guard against this sort of thing. I've not seen any type of bike without scuffs and paint coming off in those areas with boot wear and tear. Especially MX boots which are hard plastic and buckles.

I guess is the fact that the frame is black that makes it stand out more.
I have bought a can of black metal paint and it looks like new now.. not sure how long it will last though. I guess it is another part of the bike that will require constant attention.

I will have a look at the touratech guards to see what they look like.

I bought the carbon TT cover for the same reason, my boot wore the paint from the near side clutch cover.

I doubt there's a warrenty claim for 'use', anyway the carbon works well, reduces heat (i noticed my left foot was getting hot), and it looks pretty good imo.

If you keep riding yer 'bike with the same boots on they'll keep wearing the rust and any touch up paint off .... noooo problem

Two lessons to be learnt here then ...
1) Keep riding yer 'bike
2) Don't ride it and keep it pristine in the garage

Anyone thought about painting (or actually painted) F650GS?

I like my iceberg silver (let's call it light blue) just fine around town, but it just doesn't scream World Traveling Machine to me as much as the two 800s' colors (I think the gray/black 800 looks nothing short of bad @$$). I also saw the SW-Motech 800 all blacked out and that looks pretty mean as well...

But I definitely wouldn't think to do what this ****** did to his poor 1200gsa...

You're my new best friend. Those are all amazing looking... now the question isn't "would it look good in a different color?", it's now how do I choose? And I also found a link to this on that thread:

If it's just for travel, you can drop into any graphics shop and get some sticky pvc sheet and put it over the tank or other bits. It serves to both protect the panels and change the colour. The graphics place didn't even charge me for the stuff! A much easier and cheaper way of doing things plus you have the option of changing back to the original colour if you like. During my trip to Oz, I did my tank in black but removed the sticker when I got there. I now don't like being back with the original colours so am thinking of getting back to black again. My personnal opinion is all black can be too much unless you mix the finishes in a clever way, such as flat black, gloss and semi gloss. I was going to do mine all black at one point but it meant taking much more time and I was keen to get ridin so I made it simple. Keep us upto date with the project I'm interested to see how it works out

Shit alloy too much magnesium in it so powders up from below the paint.

Your dealer will say it's down to you no doubt

Not harscher than normal...(I think...)

But I´ve only used the bike once since they started put the salt out for the season. And it was a "warm" day with dry roads.....

Total 700 miles on the bike......twice in the rain.....
