Hi Stormbringer and thank you :thumb

Yes its the TT desierto Fairing, I would not say it stops buffering full stop but it is less and minimal cutting a lot out being the best screen out of 4 that I have had on the bike.

theres is no real space for the sat nav location, but I would not want it I have this work of art sitting central it puts the satnav in vision just below my main clocks-computer;

and i use the cockpit panel from TT which has the extra power socket, but is more of an infill panel.

I think the air flow between fairing and tinted screen helps to reduce and or breaks up buffering.

Here's my Bumble Bee.

April '09 registered. Only mods are practical ones - touring screen, regulator and both brake resevoir protectors, a low seat and bar risers and, lastly a GPS handlebar mount for a 550. Is anything else apart from a hugger and ali bashplate (planned for next year) REALLY necessary ? :nenau

Hi Dave, what is the regulator mod??

thanks

Dave,..I think I have spotted a side-stand extender & head-lamp protector! :hide

Both worth adding]

Damn but you're GOOOOD :blast Side stand extender / pad has gone (I carry the plastic one now as the Camel Toe made the side stand too heavy)

I did have the cut/machined aluminium headlight protector but replaced it for the clear plastic ones as the metal reduced the light output by around 10-15%.

I've also upgraded the bulbs but yet to really try them in full on darkness.

The regulator is a Touratech aluminium grill from Touratech (as are the rear and front brake resevoir protectors.

Coolcarbon, I never said a 'waste of money', only 'REALLY necessary'. Blinging is a form of customisation and there's never anything wrong with that. However, surplus bling on a bike on a tour looks great but riding around this country ............ brings on comments about "All the gear and no idea" etc, etc. :augie

I love my 800 :D

I'd say that crash bars and luggage racks are essential for those of us who use our bikes for main transport and in all weathers - dropped mine in the ice two winters ago, and the crash bars did their job...

That's a fair comment Dave. I have teh topbox and plan to get the Wolfman Expedition panniers and rack in spring before my next tour.

I get your point about crash bars but not sure if it's better to plan to fail or ride a little gentler. Some of them bars sure are Fugly ! ;) It's a very personal choice sort of thing. Same as hi-viz or armour, neither of which i use on a regular basis but have some for when circumstances seem to me to require it.

And what a nice Bumble bee it is too :thumb2 I would say if you think that the brake resevoir's and regulater add ons are practical  then yes the bashplate is 100% absolutely REALLY necessary !!! :D :thumb its the most attacked part of my bike other than my.....................

.....crash bars

If you think only some of the crash bars are Fugly why not get some that are not :thumb

yes you could ride slow but this was my at about 20 to 25 MPH into black ice  :eek

also saved by the rear swing arm protector

and third point of impact was the lever protectors.

Mind you lucky I moved the bike around the corner as the ambulance that followed shortly after also lost it and still managed to bitch slap the rear of my top box with its wing mirror  other wise it would have been curtains with or out add ons :eek

The Givi crash bars have been repaired and another occasion repaired and powder coated point is the Insurance (protecters) did there job they are my protection, and ok I think the bitts look good also but they have helped the bike remain mint. I REALLY like my F650GS and I like it protected :beerjug:

insurance innit :D :D :D

You're probably right about the crash bars but a bash plate / sump guard ? I only do trails and so am unlikely to need one .

If I decide I'm gonna start jumping tree logsetc, then maybe, but for trails and road riding it isn't necessary for me personally.

I suppose the geometry of the F800 means those bung thingys are not an option ?

Not necessarily! I bottomed out a couple of times on mine and was very glad of the bash plate. Ok it was a dried up river bed, but certainly no air was gained!

The thing to consider, is how much it would cost to replace the engine case / oil cooler assembly if you do bash it in, compared to the price of a plate which will protect the bits should the unexpected occur...

I have to confess to also having an oil cooler guard. You couldn't see it from the angle the pic was taken but it is there ...... ;)

That's better. Now I'll be able to sleep. The guilt was killing me ! :D
