► Tank bags, tail packs and soft luggage

Cheers John... do you find you have to use the additional straps down to the frame or is it fairly secure on the velcro?

It uses two straps at the front, and two at the rear. Easy to remove, if needed, but as the tank filler isn't there then it doesn't really need to be. No velcro to secure mine.

It's big enough for the spare visor I carry to be at the deep end, but not much deeper.

if small is your thing, about enough space for waterproofs and gloves or usual tittle tattle.... Wolfman about 60 quid i think...from adventurespec

Any experience with the quick-lock tankbags from SW-Motech? Ordered mine last week, looks like a good system. Dealer is very enthiousiastic, and not trying to sell anything since it's a free gift for buying the bike. :oonyack

Ordered a GS model, tankring, non-electric.

You have to drill the false tank cover. Check out this post by Chitownrider:

There is a template for drilling the holes specifically for the F800GS on the sw-motech website as well. Im currently considering this with the powered tankring and a pelican type case for all my electronic gizmos.

Hi All. I'm looking around for a decent tankbag for the 650 Twin... like the quality of the BMW offering in terms of it's attachment method but not the height... Ideally I'm looking for one with the same footprint and attachment points (under the seat) but probably about half the capacity. Don't really want all the long straps back to the frame that seem to be a feature of a lot of bags... Ideas/Advice please :augie

I'm sorry to say I think the Famsa bag is a disaster. It's a generic bag that is far too long for the bike, so it gets in the way offroad, if you tighten it to bring it further towards the headstock the horn sounds on every left turn.

Even worse, the underneath needs a softer finish, the rough 'bra' material has damaged the paint finish on the faux tank.

The waterproof outer cover doesn't include a transparent section for the map area, and tore the first time I used it.

AS Bars and Kriega US 10Ltr Bags

Hello All

Just did a recent trip to Italy and back, week and a half with 2500 miles off the life of the tyres. Needed a little extra space and trialed the US 10ltr Kreiga bags on the AS bars. They worked a treat. 100% waterproof and at speed over 90 Miles/Hr (and boy did it rain one of the days). Very stable, as if they were not there. Just needed two minutes to clean each bag of flattened insects when I got home and that’s it. Might help someone, somewhere needing some extra space.

Looks nice but unfortunately as 'everywhere' said theyll take a battering in a minor spill :(

gotta ask as well ... WTF have you got packed in all that luggage?! :augie:eek:

Nice to see a well packed bike. I have my kreg tied to my givi bars too when the backbox on.. Fab pics:thumb2

My kreg bag is only filled with stinking socks so no worrys:augie

Wapping and I met a chap in the queue for the Chunnel who had 5ltr jerry cans attached to the crash bars in exactly the same place. Very neat job too although a fast crash on tarmac could prove spectacular.

I also have the US-10s on my adventure spec bars and have found a solution to the problem of them being damaged in a minor off - fit panniers! - my bike errrr fell over on a sand road in Germany and the panniers meant that the bike didn't go fully over - of course it helps to park it in a tree at the same time :D

GS Biker. That's the way it should be done. Just throw everything on your bike and go. No need to add every accessory there is as the bike is more that capable as it is. Brilliant :thumb2:thumb2

Bags were filled with rain suit, smelly socks/jocks and shirts + inner linings for my riding gear. If it fell over it would have been a soft landing, as for a crash...think i might have a few other issues to deal with other that a ripped bag. As i said, they did work well.

Plenty gear strapped on as was camping most of my trip for nearly two weeks, awesome ride. Nothing like a good out ride to skip the usual city routine! All the best and happy biking!
