► Tank bags, tail packs and soft luggage

I'm half thinking of doing an Arctic circle trip next year with just two Kriega bags. A US-10 on the front and US-20 tailpack on the rear.
You mean that they will be you're only luggage ?
Arctic circle is quite cold therefore you might need warm clothes that takes a lot of space...
I have the Kriega US 40 that can hold quite a few summer or half season clothes, I would consider something larger for a cold region trip.

Cheers
Bernard

Ortlieb for me too!

Hi Jonathan
Would you be kind enough to post some close up pic's of you're set up with the Evo rack and the Ortlieb sac, when you have time :augie
I am seriously thinking to go that way.

Cheers

Sure. That photo was taken last year so I dont use the Hein Gericke tank bag anymore and instead use the Kriega rack pack. I was thinking of traveling really light when going down to Austria on Thursday/Friday but my girlfriend wants me to take some stuff :blast so it looks like I will be using the big yellow Ortlieb bag for her gear and the little Kriega rack pack for my meager needs.

Check out my photo pages which shows the various setups of my trips and daily rides

I'll be riding close to Gistoux on Friday :thumb2

sounds cool. I'm waiting for some new tyres on Thursday and I have to fit them before I leave. My first stop is Dusseldorf and the following day I am set to arrive in Linz. If I left Thursday after work I could get to Dover for midnight but that puts me in the wrong place at the wrong time so I will have to see how the timing works out.

Talk soon

Jonathan :aidan

Or even better, if you use Skype call me... Ide508 (country -> Belgium)
You can leave a msg, give me a fix phone n° and I'll call you back
End of the off topic :augie

Just thought I would update the thread, just bought the new BMW Tank bag for the F800GS (not the old tall one). Picked it up today so I can't comment on its carrying capacity, but it fits really well and isn’t too high to obscure your instruments, cost £141

I would display pics but can't seem to do it. If anyone is interested in seeing them give me a nudge on here with your email addy.

Strangely, I can´t find that tank bag in BMW parts cataloge for 2010. How much does is cost?

Can you fix some pictures of the inside and the map compartment?

1st pic is the map pocket, there is a moulded place for a phone, autocom or archos like device. 2nd pic is inside the bag, it has a waterproof liner that either folds back when not in use or pulls together on a cord when in use.:beerjug:
