Wunderlich tank bag

In case anyone is still interested here's a couple of pics of my new Wunderlich tank bag, exepensive at £144 from NN but a nice piece of kit. Well made, good unobtrusive base and fit, expandable and has all the bells and whistles (large map holder, waterproof zips and lining, turns into rucksack etc).

Hi

That's about the same price as BMW's own I think.

Don't think the BMW one turns into a ruck sack though

+1 for Wunderlich Tank Bag:thumb2
Had one since February and very happy with its functionality, construction and quality.
I found it very easy to get along with, fitting feels very secure and it's a good size when expanded.

I have had the Wunderlich tank bag for a year now. I use it on all my big trips and does what it says on the tin. Furthermore, placing it on the bike takes 30 sec's provided you leave the base plate on permanently. Also makes the bike look better in my opinion. :thumb2

My Wunderlich worked brilliantly in France and the Pyrenees this summer, easy and quick release to take all the valuables off the bike when parked up for food etc. and very stable on the bike at all speeds. I even used it as a rucksack once going up to visit a hilltop fortress and it wasn't too bad (but not recommended for backpacking!). The plastic map case will take several maps, including a thick map book of all France, and a couple of guide books, it just a pity it doesn't fit straight onto the tank harness without the bag so it could be used when you don't take luggage (maybe conversion project here). My only complaint is that one of the two velcro headstock straps is a bit short and so you have to make sure you get enough purchase with it. Otherwise a great piece of kit and worth the money.

Question

Hi Folks,

I am a F800GS rider from Germany. At the moment I am searchin a tank bag. I have seen the Oxford X30 and would like to know, if anybody here has this model on his GS. I mailed to Oxford twice, but didn´t get an answer. Perhabs you can help.

Many thanks in advance.

Best regards

Jo

Thumbs up for the Wunderlich :thumb

Now done 69,000+ miles on the 800 and the Wunderlich tank bag has been on for every one of them.

The front mounting plastic clip broke but it was exchanged immediately, the clip was revised and now has a snap buckle :thumb

FAO Micky, ( or anyone else who has some), am I right in thinking that you have the Wolfman soft panniers and rails on your 800? I'm sorely tempted by a set of them from Winding Roads, I've seen links to them from a few threads on here, wondered if anyone could give me a quick user satisfaction review?
Cheers me dears!

Sorry Snappo but I use the BMW alloy panniers on my 800GS

@snappo

I thought X30 is available with belts to. There are a few interesting models, but they are all to small for my needs. I am searching a bag round about 30l. But anyway thanks for your tip.

@Ewan

Thank you very much, but the Wunderlich is not the one I do prefer.

Have a nice weekend, I am out now for a lovely

Best regards from Düsseldorf

Nice one - are you still happy with them Shadwell?

I'm keen on the black n yellow set, perfect match for my bumblebee!

I still love them but the only thing I wold change is to have them slightly wider to fit a pair of shoes laid flat. I also need to fit something that I can lock for the shiny stuff to live.
They are also relatively expensive, about 450 quid all in with the racks

My luck is in, I've snagged a Wunderlich Tankbag from ebay for £79 plus postage, well happy with that!

Think I'll treat myself to the matching Tailpack as well, rude not to really!

Shadwell, thanks for your feedback mate - I reckon I'll levae them for now, they are pretty pricey, and I can get just as much carrying capacity from a 40l rollbag on the rear rack I reckon.

Also, is it just the angle of the pic, or are the bags wider than the bars? Must make filtering a bit more of a challenge!

Nice one snappo, that's an excellent price to buy, and I got a good price for the one I was selling - everybody's happy!

For anyone looking for one, there's one on eBay at the moment, not as good condition as Snappo's but cheap at the moment and no reserve - item 120903678642 (nothing to do with me)

anyone tried a Givi T483 TANKBAG

Hi

I'm looking to buy a tang bag for my 650 twin and was wondering if anyone has tried out the Give t483 tankbag?. I want a bag that has a base that is left on the bike and the actual bag can be quickly detached. I believe the wunderlich and famsa tankbags do this as does the Givi. I quite liked the wolfman bags but I believe these have to be strapped onto the bike, not easily detachable. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Thanks
Peter
