Just fitted a Lazer Y piece and did the Steptoe mod / Motronic re-set thing and went for a hurl to check the mixture - came back and took plugs out - insulation area seem q white as in lean - not sure if I'm paranoid - can a local MOT station tell if if mixture is within boundarys

Thanks :thumb2

They all do that sir, unless you pay lots of money to get it sorted. It'll be fine :thumb2

Cost me 170 quid for a Techlusion unit to richen up the mixture.

These bikes run lean standard. When you put a straight through pipe on it makes em even leaner. Up to you mate but personally I would put it on a dyno.

MOT station cannot test mixture under load, which is what you need. Only a session on a dyno can do this. The only way to check via plug colour is to do a proper 'plug chop'; this involves running at a constant throttle under load (pref. up a long hill), killing the ignition and coasting to a stop. Remove one plug from each side whilst hot and compare the colour to the manufacturers chart/guide.
Any other method of gauging mixture from plug colour is invalid, because the engine runs really weak at tickover and this is the last deposit you will see on the plugs. It is only a very basic guide at best.

Thanks for thge advice guys - looks I'll have to travel to get a dyno run - not many in N Scotland :blast
