'02 Adv strange noise.

I have a new to me 2002 1150 GS Adv. Every time after starting the engine and moving off, or sometimes after a long stop such as at a light; I'll get a metallic scrape/grind noise. Best way for me to describe it is as the sound a really dry, dirt filled footpeg may make when pushed up in its mount.

Anyhooo ........... after a lot of farting around and investigation it seems to be happening as the ABS light goes out. I know this doesn't explain why it occasionally happens after a long stop light but it is the only commonality I can find. My question is what is triggered on the ABS upon moving, and what could be the noise source?

Well, the ones with ABS anyway. It's the ABS setting itself.

Yes it is your ABS self check. It also re-checks periodically

Mine sounds like the centre stand hadn't retracted properly!

Does it frequently normally when I've been stopped at lights for a couple of minuites.

Bizzare but normal!

Mine always sounded like a rusty iron gate closing. The latest ABS is quiet - well, apart from the servo pump.
