Dithering as usual so a few views might help.
I currently have a silver '02 1150 GSA(ABS) with 15.5k on the clock. Various bits and pieces on it (boxes, exhaust, stainless, HID etc) in pretty excellent condition. It goes really well with no issues and I have enjoyed it for the last 2 years or so.
Here the dilemma.
I always wanted a black one. I know the colour shouldn't really matter but there you go. I have tracked down a pretty perfect '03 black and yellow with 16.5k miles on it not as many bits and pieces but with servo brakes (which I hate). It will probably cost me around £500-750 to change.
What do you reckon guys?

Don't do it ......................2002's were a good year

New fresh black paint on yours, will cost less than £500+ to change

Servo will only be a pian in the bum and you said you hate them

Get yours painted black:thumb

Nick,
I've responded to your PM.

My advice is stick with the bike you know. It ticks all the boxes for you (apart from colour) and the servo does suck and if it goes ......wave bye-bye to £1500.

For the record, Reids of Chelmsford did my de-activation and total removal and re-plumbing for £360 so factor that in if you do switch and don't want the servo...... but remember you lose the ABS although I don't think that's a big deal myself .....

It's not like you're looking at getting a bike with significantly less mileage/wear and you won't know the history.

If it ain't broke - don't fix it !

+1 for the above. You'll also have the option of standard GS gloss black, or a custom matt or enamel finish to give you your own unique black GS.

If you go for the respray option, don't forget to update your registration doc to let DVLA know the new colour

Looks like you have already got one

Looks like you have a shiny black one. Is that a 2005? Was nasty servo still around then?

Alternatively read the servo removal sticky and do it yourself for nothing.

Aye Nick, one of each .......................both 2005 and non ABS:D

That said, I like the Silver colour one better

I had a Servo ABS 1150GS in 2004, hated it - sold it after 7000miles.................the brakes were awful, no finesse

The Evo ABS on the 2002 1150GS was the best ever, keep yours and design your new colour to suit you:thumb

Thanks guys

Good advice guys. You've stopped me dithering. I'm sticking with the devil I know and buying it a gift or two.:)

Thanks for the advice. I have decided to hang onto my '02....unless there's a nice '05 black non abs out there somewhere.
