Hi,

I wonder if anyone can help me, I've had my 06 GS1200 for a couple of years now and I've only ever had minor issue with it, (Gear selector indicator)

I've recently returned from a couple of days camping in Snowdonia and now my bike wont start at all, when I turn the alarm off, it beeps but nothing happens, When I put the key in the ignition and turn it on, it doesnt turn off and you dont hear the fuel pump or the brakes starting up, and sometimes when I tunr the ignitiion that sends the alarm going off! :-(

Basically the vehicle wont start up at all, its only been stood for a week since returning from holiday and I had no trouble with it at all, however the bike did get a bit wet as it tipped it down, but then it started first time in the morning after the downpour and also restarted a couple of times easily,

I've since unhooked the battery and will charge the battery and then re-connect it , As i just dont have a clue where to begin, and any help will be gratefully appreciated

Also can anyone advise how much the rear wheel drive seals are as theres a small amount of oil around the drive wheel, so i need to get that fixed as well,

My bikes only done 16000 miles and I dont ride it like a lune, 9 points on my licence sees that I ride it like drving miss daisy!

Any help is gratefully appreciated as my bike is now sat in my garage and i was due to go back up to Scotland for a few days for my annual Scottish sight seeing trip!

Many thanks for any help, :beerjug:

Bike alarm.....rip the fecking thing out and bin it.

I have had an alarm fitted to both my 1200's never had a moments trouble with them.
Personally I would be leaning to think you have a main battery problem.
I keep my bike on an Optimate all the time when it is at home,Mainly because I use the bike everyday but the commute to work is short an probably more is taken from the battery than is put back.
Providing your battery is in an OK condition I do not believe that the alarm will put an undue drain on it,and in anycase, the alarm switches deactivates itself an undisclosed number of days after being activated but not less than 7 days.
I have done tours abroad 10 to 14 days and never had a battery problem with the alarm.

As regards the FD seal I had mine done under warranty so no idea on cost sorry.
