07 vs 08 GS BMW Tankbag

Hi - stupid question from a newbie - but can anyone tell me if the 07 BMW tankbag fits the 08 GS and if there are any other significant differences to the 08 bag? Also are the BMW bags properly (long ride in the rain) waterproof?

I don't know if it fits, but I know it's waterproof. I used it during my trip to the Northcape in June, and I had rain (from drizzle to rain storm) for approx 1/2 of my trip and nothing in the bag got wet.

What do you mean by 07 vs 08 bags?

There was the original (MASSIVE SIZED) GS tank bag from 04 onwards
They amended it in around 06 when the GSA came out because of the large size of the original one would foul the steering of the GSA. It was the same shape as the 04 but made smaller (but zip expandable to make it almost as big as the original).

In 08 as the change the shape of the tank area, they bought out two new tank bags. A large size and small size. Intended only for the GS and not GSA ... but it does fit the GSA, I have one.

As for waterproof. the 04 one I had and the current 08 small have been ridden in the rain (I know .. it's amazing that I ride in the rain )

The zipper handles on the 08 is absolutely CRAP. It snapped in my hand on my holiday

What bike do you have is the key question!

Then the shape of the older ones won't fit.

you need a 08 Large or 08 Small unfortunately. Be prepared to take it back for a warranty claim as you watch the zip handles snap

and check that a map fits properly into the map pocket because the older bags wont allow a map to fit in when they are A4 size - absolute numpty whoever designed that then!

I need to take mine back as one of the zip pulls has also snapped off!!!

No chance of getting anything other than a tightly folded OS map in the new one
