Had my 08 1200 for six months 8,000 miles

Just thought I would post something positive

No electrical problems
No leaks
No funny noises
No paint faults etc etc etc

Yes Starts first time every time
yes handles like a dream
Yes fast and agile
Yes economical
Yes comfortable
Yes the best bike I have ever owned

Yep had mine now 6 months, 3,500 miles and no issues.

So why am I selling it?:blast

It does everything that I need it too and more.

Just wish my legs were a bit longer.

Lots of love going on around here ..........

6 month old GSA 15,000

Not a murmer, stutter, oil mist or sniff from BMW assistance.

Just: More fun than Kylie and a bottle of baby oil
More capable than Bear Grylls
Costs the same as a mid-size US bank
Makes me smile like the guitar riff on Springsteens "Born to Run"

Why do I get the feeling that someone is going to "fix" this for me ....

08 lowered frame Gs had it 5 weeks. 1100 miles no problems-Great bike - I can reach the ground!!!!!!!!!!

2008 GS - Short Arse Model

Great Bike

Rear shock has failed after 2000 miles - looking like 2wks to get new one !!

Uses a little engine oil but nothing silly.

Good fuel economy and comfort.

The low seat height is great.

Touch wood - no more problems.

Yeah but....

I would expect a £12.000 bike which is less than six months old to be completely reliable - surely nothing to shout about :nenau

All you happy chappies better not look at the frame paint chipping off where the side and centre stands hit..........or the crossbar on the centrestand turning orange as you watch!:augie:augie:augie

Mines was flat-bedded at a few weeks old:D Love the thing to bits ........just think that dealers (Central East in my case who are excellent) should not have to function as a QA department for the company!

I was trying not to remind myself about the £10k plus cost bit ! and the expected reliability - and the expected parts back up....an..

No doubt when I eventually get the bike back from the dealers, the feel good factor will return.

Has anyone else suffered from a lack of parts back up ?

Don't know what you're on about  Are your rubbers missing on the centre stand? The side stand location is very solid. Are you saying that the crossbar is being grit blasted by road crud ? It does go out on the roads after all.

Or are you the tw*t (on this occassion) that pops up in every thread about happy 1200 owners?

BMW aren't the only manufacturer to produce a £12,000 motorcycle so I don't see the point your comment. Unless you are saying that BMWs are the only £12,000 motorcycle that have had faults ?

I don't recall saying that BMW are the only manufacturer producing £12k bikes.

My 'point' is that the very fact that people feel the need to say that their 6 month old £12k bike has been completely reliable is a bit laughable - so they bl**dy well should be!

As you rightly say this should apply to any manufacturers new bike - trouble is BMW is a 'prestige' brand with a price tag to match, so people tend to expect a little more...

I also couldn't help but smile at the contributor to this "08 1200 great bike" thread who said something along the lines of 'yeah, great bikes - well, apart from my shock failing at 2000 miles" .... :D

The whole point of my post was to high light the positive side of GS ownership

Any one coming to this site reading the numerous post would assume the GS is a bit of a lemon ..........when its clearly not :aidan

I agree entirely and that's the problem with forums

I've no axe to grind about 1200's (in fact, my mate has just been round on his month old GSA - I'm very envious) - I'd have one in a heartbeat if I had £12k to spend, but unfortunately I haven't so I'm after an 1100 :D

cheers

No.......you're the twat that describes someone as a twat for merely saying that although he loved the bike to bits......had experienced a few problems! Also I would not expect you to know what I'm on about as you don't own the particular bike that I do!

I too get fed up with the OCD owners that moan about every tiny flaw in the bike........however I also find it equally annoying when people feel the need to defend a particular "1980s Icon of greed" motorcycle manufacturer!
