Hi Andy ...

... and welcome to the site. Treat the new bike like a new house; live with it for a while before going shopping :rob That said, a few GS meets and you'll soon get an idea of what looks good and works for you :beerjug:

ps - Gets some pics posted while it's still shiny ;)

..... Remus Exhaust Systyem. It gets rid of the cat with new headers and the rear can has a removable baffle...sounds and makes the bike go very sweet. If you haven't ordered extra lights and you ride in the dark then spots/driving /fog are good. Panniers are essential with a top box if you must....check out my link below showing some snaps I took in Africa...enjoy your bike...you're gonna love it...

Ride the damn thing

Get out and use it in the rain and the cold and enjoy it - that is what it is all about. DON'T buy anything untill you have become used to it and the roads you will use; As far as a tank bag is concerned I would suggest the correct BMW model - then in a few years time when you P/E your bike the dealer will be happy to give you another one if (as is likely) the model or your taste changes;

Tempted by the idea of the Remus Y piece,

2 Questions :

1. Does the change effect the Warranty?
2. Is there any effect on Fuel Consumption, roughly how much?

Thanks in advance Gurus! :thumb2

Steve

In answer:
1. No, as its sold through BMW dealers its classed as an approved part
2. Negligable, but the increase in performance is hugely noticeable!

C`mon you guys.....where`s the "should`ve bought an 1150" posts......:hide

Its in the 1200 section. We look at that about as often as we look at the girls section. (same thing really) :augie

Edit .. enjoy yer new bike Scubaharley.

Great feeling going out on a new bike for the first time....with the GSA it's always like the first time....

Just lower the original seat as the comfort thing of seat to pegs ratio is more important. Just think when you arrive at a car park and reverse the bike down pointing up hill. You soon get used to looking out for cambers etc...

A lower seat?

Well, I am over 6' and find it very difficult to 'scoot' my standard 1200GS backwards even on the flat!

I have never pushed any of my BMW bikes back while on the bike. I always get off the bike and push the bike back. I have never come across a rider lowing a seat height so as to be able to push the bike back. The seat is designed for going forward:eek:

Well, that is a relief - I thought I was getting feeble in my old age!
