Hi,

I have self canceling indicators on the 08 GSA which apparently seem to cancel after 10 seconds according to the manual but this doesn't seem to consistently happen.

A few times I've waited the 10 secs and they're still on, other times I'm queueing up to a roundabout only to find they canceled before I've moved off which is a bit annoying.

1) Does anyone know if there is any clever logic or steering sensor involved?
2) Can the self canceling function be disabled? I'm happy without them. Or how do you stop them cancelling at junctions?

thanks

Steve

I thought it was meant to be a set number of blinks rather than a set time and that if you stop with them still running then they will stay running to cater for junctions

I may be wrong here, but my understanding is that if stationary, with either brake (or clutch?) applied then the indicators will stay on, if brakes not held on then it will cancel.

P.s. Handbook states that the indicators are cancelled automatically after you have ridden for approximately 10 seconds, or covered a distance of about 200m. It doesn't say anything about them staying on if the brakes are applied, but I could have sworn they do, I'll have to check next time I'm out and about. :nenau

On the move it's about 200 metres/yards ... this I know because I signal to leave a motorway at the 300 yard board and have to hit the switch again at around 100 yards ... which is annoying.

I haven't noticed the indicators going off when stationary.

They seem to use a simple logic: Cancel after 15 flashes, so long as you are doing 50kph or more ...

At certain speeds that will look like 200meters or 200 yards, or 10 seconds ...

I agree with trebor and swissrob. On my 08 GSA travelling at speed - cancels after about 300m. Stationary - keeps flashing indefinitely until well after pulling off.

If yours doesn't do this, its not working properly.
