Does anyone know if there is a second spare canbus power outlet on a 2009 GSA?

I know of the first one under the beak, which I have used for the Garmin, but I want to add a power socket, and would rather use the bike's wiring loom rather than adding one straight to the battery.

Cheers!

Theres a kit you can get from BMW to add another power socket into the beak rather than have the aux GPS connector under the beak. Dunno the part number though as I fitted mine years ago, it just fits in parallel with the standard socket wiring and you need to drill a hole in the beak.

I will fit the 12V socket it next to the winglet where a little recess exists and where BMW fits their kit.

The parallel bit I can wire myself easily, but I don't know if the CanBus system can take the amps drawn?

I 'd rather do it with a second spare power outlet, if there is one, same way as I have done with teh Zumo.

See the 'Switched power the easy way' sticky. http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1779461#post1779461

Two (or more) outlets wired to the same single source will stand a total draw of up to five amps, no more, combined.

So, for example, if you are drawing three amps from one and one amp from another (total four amps) it will be fine, But if you draw three amps and 2.1 amps (total 5.1) it will fail to safety and cut off.

To draw a load heavier than 5 amps, you will need a relay. It's all in the sticky.

Don't think I will need more than 5 Amps... 5 Amps is a hell of a lot of current. Will check the Zumo and my various phone/battery chargers and I will probably use the front socket and wire it in parallel.

Thanks for your replies! :-)
