1-spark vs 2-spark

Still thinking of getting an R850R or R1150R as a commuter. I've found some mint single spark bikes in my searches so far. Is it worth paying the extra for a twin spark though - is there much benefit?
 
Definitely not, the twin sparks were only brought out to get the engine to comply with emission regulations. They seem to suffer a lot from coil failures and have more to go wrong. No performance benefits either.:rob
 
as above, there wasnt really any need of it in england
 
What about surging? Was this not solved by the twin spark??
 
The main causes of surging on newer bikes was either a loose factory set up or the owners reading about it too much:D Many a single sparker is a smooth as David Camerons sales patter:augie I'm sure I have seen DC as a "dealer priciple" somewhere...
