I bought a couple of bits & pieces mail order from Bracken the other day. When I asked about the 10% GSUK discount, Dave the parts man (who has previously give me 10%), said that it was no longer available. Bracken were still charging 2001 prices for Touratech kit, which should've increased by nearly 20% in the interim.

I got the impression that they (Bracken) had sat down and had a long look at their accounts. Dave mentioned that, whilst Jon Hill had been running the Touratech side of the business, they didn't even make enough to pay his wages.....

I don't know the truth or otherwise of the above, merely reporting what I've been told. If you're counting on getting something at 10% off, however, I should ring & check first....

Well Mike as I said in the original thread. I thought it was just me but I guess it must be something to do with the surnames;)

Bracken Not Making Money on Touratech ................They're avin a Larf !!

From Personal Experience, the mark-up is 'SUBSTANTIAL' for simply passing it on from the German Shop.

I must keep that soap box tucked away next to the washer in the garage.............

I agree. I've checked the Touratech web sites for Germany,France, USA and UK. All prices are marked up outside Germany. Our price is similar to the USA prices. Around a 30% increase.
Is it true that they will not supply a UK address from Germany mail order? If not, isn't that against EU law? Free trade area an all that stuff.

Howard,

You have hit me right on the soft spot..........!!

You are absolutely right, they will not supply UK Customers direct as I found out a while ago. Just like wonder-bloody-lick !!

When I finally got the item from Bracken which I had ordered and had confirmed via email from Germany, there was a Bloody great hike in price. After several phone calls, I was told that I would get the difference refunded from Bracken. I got some but not all back.........still not happy !!

I feel that we are being treated as the poor cousins, but others think I am Bleating, they must have more money than sense !!

PS, If you need documentary evidence for any action you think may be appropriate, I will be more than willing to supply invoices etc.

EU Law

it is against EU law for a company to refuse to sell to anyone else within the EU. However - unless someone is willing to take one the company in question, then nothing will change.

My wife works for a company in the UK that has a Swiss parent company with national distributors in almost every European country. They cannot refuse to supply to anybody who approaches them to buy goods, despite there being a "sister" company selling the same product in the purchaser's country.
